Plumber type dishwasher help needed

Right you slags, save me a £100 on a plumber.

My missus put a dishwaser cleaning tablet in our machine. It must have worked cos all the shit it cleaned out is now blocking the drain and the water can't get out. I've tried plunging but can't get properly over the outlet. Tried sticking a coat hanger down there but it's fiddly and the exit pipe is flexible so I'm scared of stabbing a hole in it. Don't want to pour drain unbloker down there because if it doesn't work I get a toxic soup sat there. Any ideas? I feckin hate washing up.

If you have hose that will fit in the pipe try blasting it thru. If not do u have a mate with some rods?

Really hard to get to the outlet bit, and it's only quite small. Will just annoy me to call a plumber out when it will prob take him 30 secs to clear. Don't think rods will fit.

can't you blast it through from the end of the outlet pipe back into the machine ?

Don't think so. I live on the 8th floor. What would I blast it with? As you can tell I'm not that handy at this sort of stuff.

Mix a bottle of vinegar with about 3 tablespoons of Saxa salt, and pour it down the plughole.

It won't clear the blockage, but your kitchen will smell like a chip shop, so you'll get that "Friday Feeling" every time you walk in.

Have you tried moving the dishwasher to get to the outlet?

Awesome! Top tip.

I used Mr Muscle drainblock stuff when it happened to me and had no problems but you do need to get it into the outlet as well as in the drain inside the machine

you could just try some salt crystals on a short wash cycle but keep checking to make sure you don't get a flood

Get the missus to do everything while you watch and have a nice drink. After all she started all this mess, don't forget that.

That's what I'm worried about, the drain unblocker not going anyway or the machine flooding. I'm going to pull the whole unit out and see if I can get into the back and have a root around.
Cheers dudes, I was expecting a lot more abuse.

You've met my missus, would you be brave enough to tell her that?

Surely this is a job for Barry Scott??

CILLIT BANG

I'd prefer him to the new Mr Muscle. I thought the idea was that even if you have NO muscles, it doesn't matter cos the stuff is so strong. But the new fella is all tough and buff with super powers and everything. Surely he wouldn't even need chemical assisstance to unblock his drain?

Have you emptied the trap under your sink?

There's a TRAP under my sink? What does it catch? Midgets after my stash of household cleaning products and old sponges? How many you d'ya reckon it's got in there? Blimey. Thought the kitchen was a bit smelly.

Doesn't the outlet from the dishwasher have a little filter on the pipe - looks like a miniature strainer.... should do anyhow, prevents this sort of thing...

Oh and I'd bi-carb and vinegar it - I do to most things so I can't think why it wouldn't work on that...

Think the missus took that strainer thing off to clean whilst the cleaning program was going... I think MoH is right, poke her behind the thing to get it sorted. Might try the bi-carb and vinegar first though, cheers.
