"Any persons convicted of criminal acts during the current London riots should have all financial benefits removed. No tax payer should have to contribute to those who have destroyed property, stolen from their community and shown a disregard for the country that provides for them."

Nice idea but won't work. If you take the benefits away, they'll just have to steal more and of course the whole country is going to pick up the tab in increased insurance premiums. Throw them into prison, and if the prisons are full, put them in 10 to a cell and sod their human rights. Put them in the stocks and paint them purple when they come out.

Sod Human Rights why shouldn't they be given Community Service putting right what they have damaged and wearing distinctive clothing that shows them up for what they are and what they did and humiliates them.

.... only if you want to encourage rampaging gangs of Purples roaming the streets looking for trouble. It will become a "Badge of (misplaced) Honour".
