I am not one for the big OTT blockbusters myself. Recent films I have really enjoyed:

Pride - a gay activist group help support the Welsh miners. Loved it, fantastic.
Nightcrawler - Weird and wonderful
Under the Skin - Even weirder and even more wonderful. Plus you see Scarlett Johansson naked.

I watched Gran Torino again the other day - I'd forgotten what a belter that is. Probably my favourite Clint Eastwood film.

One film which really gets to me and moves me is American Beauty. Every time without fail.

Then of course there's:

Shawshank Redemption
Saving Private Ryan
Gangs of New York (simply mesmerised by Day-Lewis' performance)
The Godfather (I & II)
Gladiator

Weirdly, and I never thought I'd remotely be a fan of these films, but I am seriously enjoying The Hunger Games saga.

Just listening to Neil Young "Philadelphia" and reminded me what a great film that was. Still brings a lump to my throat listening to this song.

Coming at the end of the film believe this gets overlooked by many given Springsteen's Streets of Philadelphia at the start and being a hit single

With few exceptions it's all fairly stereotypical laddish fare, the equivalent of asking an 80s footballer what was on his Walkman and the answer would invariably be: "Phil Collins"
