If I were a fan of RDFC I'd be inclined to let it die and start a phoenix club (one of the options the OP mentioned in post #5). Some of you may not be aware that Halifax Town went bust a few years ago. They were in Administration, finished bottom of the Conference, couldn't pass the CVA and were wound up and died. Of course they didn't REALLY die, the fans promptly formed a new club, FC Halifax Town (still playing at The Shay) and were accepted into NPL Div 1 North (which was actually only 3 divisions below where they were when they went bust).

Now completely debt free and still with, by non-league standards, a large fan base they quickly stormed up the leagues and last season they absolutely PISSED the NPL Premier Division (the division that FCUM are in) winning it by about 20 points. They're now back in Conference North, which is the division they would have been had the original club struggled on. There has actually been a little bit of harrumphing from some supporters of the teams left trailing in their wake in the NPL Premier (FCUM, Colwyn Bay and Bradford Park Avenue) that Halifax have 'cheated' and that clubs that go bust shouldn't be allowed to reform! Unsurprisingly the Halifax fans are loving it though, and the moral is that the death of a club isn't the end of a club.

This is definitely an option I'd prefer. The thought of merging with Kettering is gut turning.
Even if we do survive the next few weeks, I find it hard to imagine how we will made it through next season.

A phenoix club may be the only real option. The main problem (and a very big one) will be finding somewhere to play.

shouldnt pay their players silly money.
People might laugh at Eastbourne Borough's philosophy of not spending money they haven't got but at least they dont go into debt to buy expensive players with money they ought to be paying their tax bill off with and then plead poverty when the taxman catches up with them.
The thread heading should be , WE DIDNT PAY OUR TAXBILL AND ARE IN THE DOODOO CAN YOU GIVE US SOME MONEY

Blimey I didn't realise there was talk of merging with Kettering! Haven't they got problems of their own and the possible loss of their ground?

With regard to somewhere to play who owns your ground? With regard to Halifax they didn't own The Shay (they'd sold it to the council back in the 1980s when they were in financial trouble before). This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it meant it couldn't be sold as part of any liquidation to some property speculator. Also Calderdale Council, were committed to maintaining it as a sports venue (the Halifax Rugby League team play there as well), and consequently when the new club applied to be the new football tenants the council were only too happy to oblige.

Yes, although starting a phoenix club could seemingly be the best option, in reality it'll be very hard. There are no suitable grounds close by, and due to new rules, we'd be about 7 leagues down in the pyramid.
We need to do everything possible to save the existing club.

And if we do manage to save the club, it will be owned by the fans and the R&DFC supporters trust, until we found a new long term owner

How about 10k for releasing Leon? This is a true offer.

Is this REALLY how reputable agents operate?

If you have a geniune offer for Rushden, regarding a settlement over the LK dispute, would it perhaps be better to contact the directors of that club directly, to negotiate, rather than making the 'offer' to an anonymous 'rdfc fan', on a public messageboard for Brighton fans? Just a thought, like.

News on BBC website says Rushden have been expelled from the Conference

Rushden & Diamonds have been expelled from the Football Conference for financial reasons.

Relegated Southport will now stay up, while Thurrock will remain in the Blue Square Bet South and Bishop's Stortford will move to Blue Square Bet North.

Rushden almalgamated with Irthlingborough Diamonds to become one team under the guidance of "Doc Martens" who built their nice stadium, would've thought that Wellingborough would be the next to join them.
