I don't think we will ever be in the position to break the bank to stay in a division. Would you like to be in the position of Leeds, West Ham, Bradford, Derby, Sheffield Wed, Coventry etc?
McGhee expects to have "something left" for transfer fees. How much will partly depend on proposed renegotiations with some of the 11 players who still have a year left on their contracts, a list headed by Danny Cullip and Leon Knight.
Above is from an argus report earlier in the month. So a transfer fee is a possibility.
The amount we'll have to spend will be nothing minus the payouts to Chelsea and Stoke for Leon Knight and Chris Iwelomu.
I make that a big fat zero.
A yes from Mr Prescott will soften the blow
i would say that any money we have available in the transfer "kitty" will have to be used for wages in order to attract some half-decent players on free transfers.
can't see mcghee having even £25-£50k available to spend on one player when money is as tight as it currently is. as kalinski said, i'd rather not be in a position where our future financial viability was in question if we got relegated because of a huge wage bill.
We will do what Pompey done last year although not on such a classy scale. There wont be any Yakubu's or Sherringham's but I can see a couple of decent free transfers joining especially if we get a Falmer decision (f***ing hurry up prescott)
We will pay a fee for Big Chris... do we owe something for Leon as well?... wasn't aware of that... can't see much more being spent on fees, but I could be wrong... I just hope Dick has learnt his lesson and loosens his purse strings a little (without breaking the bank)...
