I thought most of the players were actually fairly reasonable yesterday, albeit burdened with a rather odd system.


Blayney 6 - A bit slow off his line on occasions, could have done better with the fifth.

Reid 4 - A nightmare all round.
Butters 8 - Strong in the air, held a patchy back line together well.
El Abd 7 - Fought well, handled Doyle admirably.
Elphick 5 - Felt sorry for him, really.
Hart 6 - Okay.

Frutos 6 - Tried, but had little to aim for up front.
Hammond 7.5 - Tackled superbly, passed well.
Oatway 6.5 - Apart from the OG, did fairly well.
Carole 7 - Carried the ball well, but with no-one to pass to was crowded out.

Knight 7 - Battled away fighting a hopeless cause on his own.

Elphick 4 - Unlucky with the sending off but with early booking was always going to go

Carole 6 - Carried the ball well, too often ran down blind alleys
Oatway 6 - Spirited performance
Hammond 6 - Started well disappeared after the second goal
Frutos 5 - Not his best game

Elphick 3 Poor debut completely outclassed, outplayed
Carole 4 Very Quiet
Oatway 6 Battled hard against all ods.
Hammond 5 Played well for 20 mins until conceeding usual stupid free kick in a dangerous position. Lost his confidence and hid.

Frutos 5 At fault for the first goal but didnt much else either wrong or right.
Knight 5 Fought a lone cause miserable afternoon.

Subs:

CKR 7 Did more in the short time that he was on than the rest in 90 minutes.
Robinson 4 First touch and passing attrocious as usual.
Elphick 5 Great improvement on his brother made a couple of decent tackles.

McGhee 1 Very poor tactically and should have taken Elphick off after 20 minutes when it was obvious he would not last the game. Should concentrate more on us trying to play than what the fans at Reading think of him.
