Ben Roberts: Confident in his ability to come for crosses but struggled to hold a couple of them. Largely untroubled by City's shot-shy strikers. 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adam Virgo: Hard-working down the right and always looking to start an attack. Booked for a reckless lunge in the first half but a tireless display. 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Danny Cullip: Effective display by the centre-back, he dealt with Roberts and Miller confidently and got his body in the way for crucial blocks. 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guy Butters: Made his intentions clear early on with a crunching tackle on Christian Roberts and never let the two strikers settle. Made some important blocks. 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daniel Harding: Did his job professionally and part of a solid back four that snuffed out any goal threat from Bristol City. 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gary Hart: Quiet performance from the midfielder who had to contend with the attacking threat of Hill. Could have been a bigger danger going forward. 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charlie Oatway: Gave his all for the cause like many of his team-mates, tried to stop Doherty getting on the ball and dominating the contest. 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Richard Carpenter: Tried to get involved but as the ball was launched from one end to the other never had time to settle. Taken off with a knock. 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nathan Jones: Starved of service but looked to run at the Robins defence when he got the chance. Withdrawn as he faded from the game. 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leon Knight: Hit the bar with a stunning free-kick, lively all afternoon and coolly slotted home the penalty that secured promotion. 8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chris Iwelumo: Hardly in the game at all, but looked certain to score as he won the last-gasp penalty which won the game. 5

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Substitutes

Paul Reid (replaced Richard Carpenter, 62 mins): Stretched the Robins defence as Brighton got more and more into the game at the finish.

John Piercey (replaced Nathan Jones, 78 mins): Showed his quality immediately with a stunning cross which Iwelumo headed wide.

Ben Roberts - 7.5 - Made one good save to recover a mistake, kicking was inconsistent, but looked confident and was reassuring for the defence in coming for everything

Dan Harding - 7.5 - Did well against Rougier, then Murray never got a sniff
Guy Butters - 8 - Strong and dependable, never looked like being beaten
Danny Cullip - *8.5* - Absolutley awesome in every sense, easily the best centre-back in the league
Adam Virgo - 7.5 - Strong defensively, held out well

Nathan Jones - 7.5 - Energetic and committed, a threatening outlet. Unlucky to be replaced
Charlie Oatway - 7.5 - Battled away as ever, and disribution was better than usual
Richard Carpenter - 8 - Excellent as ever, matched Doherty until he was injured
Gary Hart - 7.5 - Occasionally quieter than Jones, but fought well when involved

Chris Iwelumo - 8 - Had a good game, linked well with Knight, worked hard and won the penalty
Leon Knight - 8 - Worked his socks off, showed nerves of proverbail steel for the penalty, and was always a threat

Subs

Reid - 8 - Improved the composure in midfield, and set up a number of counter-attacks
Piercy - 7.5 - Looked good and added quality to a fast-paced battle
