Brez: 7 – Had little to do looking back. Saved a weak penalty and a one-on-one that was hit straight at him, caught well, but never really put under any pressure. Rushed his distribution somewhat.
Hoyte: 5 – Got a lot to learn, but would still have him in ahead of Whing.
Elphick: 6 – Assured and commanding.
Tunnicliffe: 6 – Didn't do much wrong.
El-Abd: 6 – Again, does what the manager wants. Tried to get forward as well.
Bennett: 5 – Never threatened, but was never really given the ball.
Dicker: 5 – A mixed bag. Wasted when pushed out on the wing. Gave the ball away too often.
Navarro: 4 – Stupid booking in first-half. Never asserted himself, rarely broke up play.
Crofts: 6 – Like Dicker, didn't look comfortable out wide. Some nice touches. Tried to get us going. Really good header for the goal.
Forster: 6 – Only got going when Dickinson came on. Not his best day, but tried until the end.
Murray: 5 – Had no service all game. Nothing really came off despite best efforts.

Subs
Dickinson: 6 – Gave us a bit more energy and threat (which is not really saying much). Prepared to run at defenders.
McNulty: 6 – Great cross for the goal.
Cox: n/a – on for 10 seconds.

Overall: 6 – a crap game, in crap weather, in a crap stadium, against crap opposition. The win was totally undeserved, so not gonna grumble, but we really were poor. Thought our tactics were negative and designed to tighten up the midfield and defence (so obviously worked with a clean sheet), but were playing Exeter, not Leeds. Saying that, at the moment I'll take scrappy 1-0 wins all season.

Brezovan - 8 - commanding, and rectifid his mistakes. What a debut!
Hote - 4 - all over the shop
Elphick - 7 - much better actually, shame he can't play like that every week
Tunnicliffe - 6 - dug in
El-abd - 7 - got forward LOADS, which was unusual for El-abd!
Bennett - 3 - what has Poyet done to him?
Dicker - 3 - consistetly sloppy in posession, deservedly subbed.
Crofts - 6- the stand out midfielder, cracking goal really
Navarro - 3 - totally anoymous
Murray - 4 - poor, but little service again
Forster - 5 - lively, but wasted a golden chance

Dickinson - 7 - turned the game really, as soon as he came on we looked more of a threat, he was busy and unlucky not to score

Basically we were crap, they were crap, but we got the result and that's all that matters.

Has been exposed as being not good enough. He should never have won that award and wouldnt have done had people judged his all round play rather than a couple of last ditch tackles.

I thought his application and effort stood out, and put him head and shoulders above the rest of the team last year, as did 70% of the supporters. Who did you think it should have gone to?

Conflicting views on Bernie coming through - either "very little to do, too early to say" or "11 out of 10". Is saving a penalty colouring people's judgements or was he really dominant in the box?

View down the radio (not a great view) - Bennett sounds like he needs a rest, Murray too. Tommy improving. Hoyte a weak link again - what has happened here? And as someone suggests, could Jimmy Mac be the answer for left of midfield if we can find a decent left back in January (or get Jake Wright fit).

Saved the penalty and stood up well when they went through on goal (although both were pretty shocking efforts), but aside from that didn't really get called into action at all so it is early to say. As I said to people around me though, luck is as important as anything, and unlike Smith, he seems to have it.

I'd go along with that, but El-Abd was a 6 from me.

Someitmes these player ratings confuse me. Everyone here seems to agree that Navarro was rubbish. But didn't both commentators say that Navarro played really well at breakign up Exeter's game and hasn't the staff said he's doing his job. I wasn't there so have no opinion but maybe he's anonymous because he quietly gets on with his work in the middle. It's like staff and commentators are watching a different game.

Betcha navarro plays next game.
