Just home from the game, will try to come up with some ratings for the players once I have had a chance to mull things over. On the whole we played pretty well, a bit better finishing and awareness in the last third and we would have been home and dry before the referee gifted them a penalty.

On the subject of the ref, not normally one to criticise, but I don't think I have seen many worse in more than a quarter of a century watching live football...he really was a cock, gave pretty much everything to the home team and bottled it in the first half when Odejayi raised hands to an Albion player and virtually pushed him into tha crowd, instead both players saw yellow. In reflection a red card may have been a little harsh, but along with the majority of the away end I was baying for one at the time.

Positives for the Albion, FDM pulled of a few really decent saves (our MOM in my opinion), couldn't fault him for the penalty...nearly got to it. Other highlights, Sam Rents and Tommy Elphick both had good games...nice to see big Nathan putting it about a bit and being rewarded with a goal...the bustling centre forward we have been crying out for, him and Baz up front could batter the opposition into submission.

On the whole I was a little disappointed we couldn't hang on for the win, our efforts just about deserved it, but playing against 12 men it was inevitable that they would score eventually. In all, a nice day out in the sunshine...happy holidays folks.

There's nothing worse then seeing people go straight home after a match and not stopping for a beer or two.Especially when you live so close and have a chance of seeing an away game on your doorstep.Lovely day,got a point so there's no excuse:rolleyes:

Michel 7 - not a foot wrong, in what looks like the exit of a legend
Rehman 6 - not convinced by him
Elphick 7 - good solid displays, the best I have seen him play
Butters 7 - pretty good, never caught out
Rents 7 - some nice balls forward, if he toughened up a bit he would be damn good
Cox 6 - at times very good, but drifted in and out
El Abd 6 - not a lot to go on here
Bertin 5 - very ineffective I thought, definitely off in the summer
Hart 6 - tries his best, but sadly off the pace
Revell 7 - not a bad game, works hard, but lacks a killer touch
Elder 8 - won EVERYTHING in the air, and a cracking finish too

Agree with your marks. Elphick looked very promising, a real prospect.

I also thought the ref was very poor, I couldn't see what happened for their penalty but the ref missed plenty of other incidents. The players reaction at the end when they surrounded the ref said a lot for what they thought of him too and, in some ways, spoilt the start of the end of match celebrations.

Another thing that I've not seen mentioned was possibly one of the misses of the season by Tank right in front of our end.

On balance I think we should have taken all three points but, as so often has been the case this season, our finishing and final ball let us down.

we started well, scored then faded and just about hung on to a point. We don't look fit enough.

Strange selection/tactics by Wilkins again.

FDM was MOM with Elphick/Elder a close second

Kuipers 8. Couple of excellent saves. Got close to the penalty. Good command of his area. Kicking and distribution pretty good. On this display he's as good as or better than Flinders and should without doubt be our No 1 keeper for next season.

Rehman 6. Much better than at CB, but passing sometimes let him down. Not convinced we should sign him if the opportunity arises.

Elphick 7. Much better game than his last start. Good prospect.

Butters 7. Another excellent game. If only he had scored that goal!

Rents 6. Good corners and free kicks. Distribution OK. Needs to toughen up as can get knocked of the ball too easily.

ElAbd 7. Unlike some people on here I thought he had a good game. Best for a while. Better in the holding role than on the right of midfield. It's a toss up as to whether he or Bertin is better in that role.

Bertin 5. Not a right midfielder. Poor game.

Cox 6. OK. Still not back to his best.

Hart 5. Looked a bit lost to be honest. Missed a couple of good goal scoring opportunities and seems to have lost a yard of pace.

Revell 7. Good game again. Worked his socks off.

Elder 8. Won everything in the air. A revelation. If he can keep this form up he will be an excellent striker.

Wilkins 8. Good selection today. Right to give Elder a start and put FDM back in goal.

Michel 8 - good saves in the 2nd half - hope he stays
Rehman 6 - looked ok
Elphick 7 - Promising
Butters 6 - why did he not take his shirt off at the end and show the faithful his torso?
Rents 6 - Had a solid game
Cox 6 - looked knackered
El Abd 6 - He is not a midfielder
Bertin 6 - Should have played in the centre wasted on the right
Hart 6 - Should have played on the right wasted in the centre
Revell 7 - Chased everything, but never looked dangerous
Elder 10 - won everything and put the ball in good positions for anybody who was looking for the knockdown

The Kimble brewery 10/10 a great boozer

It has just occurred to me why the players surrounded the ref at the end, he had awarded us a free kick, marking a rare occasion where he gave something our way. All the players were lined up in the box, ready to get on the end of it...he then blew the final whistle a fraction of a second after it was struck.

Any normal ref would have allowed that phase of play to be completed, before ending the game, either we get a shot on goal or the home team clear the ball...game over.

Imagine the scene if a ref did that and the attacking team needed to score to either stay up or get into a promotion position, he could have had a full blown riot on his hands...lucky for him that all that rested on the result was pride.

I think he was. Elphick is slow slow slow. El Abd needs a serious talking to. Hart's time is up. Revell is a headless chicken.

Butters played very well.

Revell is playing with a groin injury which is restricting his play at the moment, which begs the question - why did he start or why wasn't he subbed?
