A good rather than great performance, but a much much better game to watch than that first boring hour against Cardiff. We played proper football today.

Reyes 7. not a great game for him, I think we could see calderon starting next game.

ElAbd 8. again very solid made important tackles
Mattock 7. not his best oerformance but done ok
Noone 6. dont think he had a good game today.
Bridcutt 7. done ok few good tackles and passes
Navarro 7. done ok.
Buckley 7. you could see him getting pissed off, nothing really went his way until vicente came on.
Barnes 6. player well pass couple of games but today was poor like most games this season.
Vokes 6. apart from winning a few headers didnt really do much

Barnes 6 - not his best game but some good defending headers and decent passing

Brez - 6 One dodgy moment when he let the ball slip out of his hands, needed good defending from El-Abd to save him. Not much to do.

Jara Reyes - 7 Decent, much better passing after his antics on Weds
Greer - 6 Had that one moment where he gave the ball away in a dodgy position. Otherwise fine.
El-Abd - 8 Been great since coming back into the middle and again today
Mattock - 6.5 Not his best game going forward

Navarro - 6 Bit exposed today I thought
Bridcutt - 7 Immense in the last 20 minutes!
Barnes - 7 Having a pretty good game in the middle, although Vokes wasn't much use to him. Not so good wide.

Noone - 6 One good cross, why do they let him take corners?
Buckley - 6.5 Not his greatest game, didn't make the most of a few good positions

Vokes - 5 Just seemed too slow on many occasions and not in the game enough


Vicente - 10 changed the game, amazing quality, everything he did was good
Mackail-Smith - 6 Didn't do a great deal but extra mobility up front helped
LuaLua - 9 I don't know why he's not starting really. Been back to his best for a while

Peter Brezovan 6 - Not as good as wednesday, when he let in 2. Ironic, but we were in total control.
Gonzalo Jara 6 - His control was much better and showed the form we came to expect from his first loan spell. Final ball was dire.
Gordon Greer 7 - Not as many runs forward from the back as wednesday, but no need to. Never troubled, sheer class.
Adam El-Abd 8 - Proper defender, loves a tackle and just seems to love defending. Amazing improvement over the last 2 years.
Joe Mattock 6 - I didn't think he played as well as he has done, but he was never really bothered and showed some class touches.
Liam Bridcutt 6 - Didn't really get involved too often, and lost posession more often than usual.
Alan Navarro 7 - First half I thought he was an easy 8/10 but faded second half, left the attacking to Vicente. Tactically a very good player.
Craig Noone 6 - His corners weren't as bad as people made them out to be, just no-one getting on the end of them. Not his best game.
William Buckley 6 - Lost his form completely in the last few games, but was ok in the second half.
Ashley Barnes 8 - I thought he was fantastic playing more in the centre, spread the play well and did what was asked of him.
Sam Vokes 8 - Won a lot in the air and didn't just flick it on for Pompey to pick up. Unlucky not to score when intercepting the backpass.

Vicente 10 - Perfect. 2 goals, he had a shot well saved and was sheer class. Completely changed the complexion of the game.
Craig Mackail-Smith 6 - Not involved. Really want to see us play with a high tempo when he's on, give him a chance to show his real talent.
Kazenga LuaLua 6 - Did alright. With the loss of form of Noone and Buckley, will probably get more game time, needs to step up.

Like wednesday, I really enjoyed the game and thought we were in control from start to finish. Portsmouth had a spell of pressure, but they were never really on top and never really looked like scoring. Brez only had a couple of saves to make, admittedly we didn't work Ashdown enough, but we were comfortably the better team.

navarro - 6 - did nothing of note.
Buckley - 6.5 - needed to be more direct, okay performance
noone - 6 - needs to get back to form, was wasteful at times

vokes - 6 - few good headers but lacked conviction and pace
barnes - 6 - average performance nothing overly impressive

vicente - 9 - class act
lualua - 7 - always had the defenders beating
mackail-smith - 6 - should've started IMO
