Angreken - 6.5 - Didn't really have too much to do. Took any crosses well but still doesn't inspire with me confidence.
Painter - 7 - Solid any looked tidy going forward.
Elphick - 8.5 - I don't think anything got past him today. I seem to remember one immense tackle in the 2nd half too.
El-Abd - 7.5 - Solid no nonsense defending.
Calderon - 7 - Drifts forward too much and one more than one occasion relied on El-Abd to cover him.
Lua-Lua - 9 - MOM. What can I say? FANTASTIC strike for his goal and a lovely cross to the far post for Murray's goal. You can feel the buzz everytime he gets the ball. End product seems to have vastly improved over the summer.
Kishishev - 8 - The better of the CM's today. Picks some lovely passes but there was a moment in the first half where he passed the ball straight to an MK player under no pressure. Amazing stamina for someone in his mid 30's.
Sparrow - 7 - A bit rash with his tackles and was obviously taken off due to his yellow card (and then final warning from the ref). Breaks up play well.
Bennett - 7 - A fairly quiet game today (by his standards) as we tended to push the ball to the left of midfield. Some nice overlapping play with Calderon in the 1st half.
Barnes - 7 - Holds the ball up really well and some nice linkage play with Murray. Didn't really have a sniff on goal.
Murray - 7.5 - Took his 1 yard header well for his goal. Somehow managed to put the ball wide in the 1st half but had a good game overall.

Casper- 6 - very little to do. Failed to come for one cross in the first half - but really covered well by the defence.

Painter- 6 - had a torrid time for the first 30 minutes but got better.
Elphick-8 - great game. Well done Tommy.
El-Abd-7 - solid but jumped in a couple of times. Could have been the red card that was threatening to come. Love the man though.
Calderon-7 - did his job. Nothing flashy. Looked injured near the end.

Bennnet- 8 - really played well. Went close to MOM for me.
Kish-7 - a few misplaced passes early on but a real asset. Solid.
Sparrow-7 - looked off the pace in the first half but got better and better. What a midfield we have this season.
LuaLua -9 (just) -great goal. Superb chip to set up Murray for the second. Some lovely runs. Terrorised MK Dons. His speed is seen at its best not when he's in a foot race with a defender but when he accellerates over five metres. one minutes the defende is goal side, the next he's spinning and KLL is past him. Stunning.

Barnes- 6 - average. Should have scored with his header first half. Would have preferred to see another player in midfield.
Murray- 7 - diving is ridiculous but he worked his socks off. Forced errors from keeper and defenders, scored a goal, made space.

Subs:
Dicker-5 - never really got the pace of the game. Not his day.
Bridcutt- one or two glimpses of what might be.

Calderon-7
El Abd-7
Elphick-8-Solid performance
Painter-8 As above
Bennett 7
Sparrow 7
Kishishshev 7
Lua Lua 9-Great goal +assist, always produced something + now better without ball-maturing.MOM
Barnes 6-no urgency or aggression in vital areas
Murray 7-no urgency or aggression in vital areas but did hold ball up well at times.

Goalkeeper and forwards are a cause of concern because at moment possibly the only positions preventing us from a title chalenge.MK Dons were nt a bad side, would we have won todays game without the MOM.I dont think so!

Ankergren 6 - I think people are just starting to feel about him the way I've felt about him since we signed him. All the window lickers around me today were moaning about him. Just about the only thing that bunch of morons got right today.

Calderon 7 - Best right back we've had in my 14 years as a fan. Sorry Watson and Peter Smith!
Elphick 8 - Absolutely brilliant. One ridiculous freekick which he just shunted out for a goalkick, but defensively fantastic.
El-Abd 8 - Brilliant. Strong in the tackle, covered space well and did nothing stupid.
Painter 7 - Best left back we've had in my 14 years as a fan! Sorry Mayo.

Bennett 7 - Fantastic player, for me he's the best technical player at the club. Defensively aware and a potent threat whenever we attack, looked accomplished in the centre when he drifted inside.
Kishishev 6 - Like I said in the other thread, when he tried something difficult he couldn't find the pass. Defensively superb and adding a calm presence in our midfield in the abesnce of Navarro.
Sparrow 7 - I don't understand some of the comments about him. His touch, his awareness and his movement is fantastic and I think he'll prove to be as good in our midfield as Paul Rogers was. Fantastic signing and a key player in our midfield.
LuaLuaLua 9 - The missing creative link in our side, when he gets the ball the strikers come alive knowing that the ball will end up in the box. His delivery will improve but so long as he gets the ball into the box we have a chance of scoring.. simples.

Barnes 7 - Generous 7 perhaps, but he worked hard and was a bit unlucky not to get more chances to find the net himself. Played an important part in our shape and moved around alot for the team.
Murray 7 - Quality poaching, and fantastic in the air. But his diving is ridiculous and he needs to be more Shearer than Drogba in terms of the theatrics.

SUBS;
Dicker 7 - I would play him every game in place of Kishishev if it was up to me. Quality player and deserves to be more involved.
Smith 6 - Not really much of a chance to get involved, but still looks like being a superb squad player this season.
Bridcutt 6 - Brilliant awareness with the chest pass to Dicker, but not enough time to show too much, looks a solid signing though.

All 7 except. Kish, Tommy and Murray who get an 8, and Kaz who gets a 9.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Ankegren: 7 Didn't have a great deal to do, but did take the ball from a MKDons player's foot in the second half. Got solidly behind the ball when he was catching.

Painter: 7 Solid and calm as usual, took a shot (must have developed a taste for it since his goal)
Elphick: 8 Great performance apart from his free kick
El-Abd: 8 Very robust but did well.
Calderon: 7 Had a good game and is a good skipper

Bennett: 7 Very unlucky with his 'offside' Everyone around us said the linesman was wrong.
Kish: 8 Broke up play well but a few passes went astray
Sparrow: 7 Was careless for his yellow and Gus was right to sub him
Lua-Lua: 9 Excellent. What more can I say?

Murray: 8 Was hungry for everything.
Barnes:7 Battled hard and tracked back well.

Dicker: 7 played well when he came on

8 - As a team we played well although it took us a while to get control of the game, but once we did there was only going to be one winner.

I don't know if it was the weather, my mood, the lack of any real fight from MK Dons, or what, but I just didn't "feel" this game. I walked out feeling quite flat. I know we won. We convincingly won, against a team I was expecting to be a tough opponent.

There was a bit of messy play early on, which I chalk up to the players getting used to the conditions. There was a stop start period in the middle of the second half, shortly after we had a penalty shout turned down.

I thought Murray went down too often, too easily, but was also constant trouble for their defence. Kish was giving the ball away too easily, and was a little slow to react at times, then in the last 20 mins he turned into a mountain. Ankergren still makes me worry, there were a couple of times when the ball came close to his area, he was the closest player, but he hesitated, came out, changed his mind, went back and left the ball. The best MK chance he came out as he does as if he wants to push the ball (arms up palms facing out) clattered* the player and just got enough on the ball.

But all that is nit-picking really. I know we played well, against a top team. I just wasn't and can't get excited by it, and I don't know why, it's not a negative thing, it's a neutral thing, not quite apathetic - I'm glad we won and think we deserved it, but just a lack of total joy.

Anyone who follows the refereeing debates on here, or who cyberstalks me, will know I'm the first to stick up for a ref (and often the last one, too), yet the only good thing I can say about today's ref, is his decisions were as inconsistent for them as they were for us. I thought he was right to book Murray, I know the ground was wet and so on, but it looked to me like their player had released the ball even before Murray lunged in. But there was no consistency, he would give things he shouldn't as well as things he should and wouldn't give things he should as well as some things he shouldn't. It was a totally bizarre display, there was no rhyme or reason to his mistakes. It wasn't always in favour of one team, wasn't always in favour of attack or defence, and so on. I was just completely baffled by it all.

I can't wait to see what Murray has to do to please some of you. High minded twats.

He was excellent today, as was Lua Lua and the two centre halves.

Move on from his past and appreciate him for what he is.

Seems a little harsh. It's just a matter of opinions isn't it. He made some nice touches but on a number of occasions was caught in possession or passes went astray. Think he's a very good player and it says a lot about the quality of our midfield, but for me today he never really got into the game.
