Lee 2 - A subtitution of pure genius - why take off our best player?

All in all a very disappointing performance. It's hard to find anything positive to say so I won't bother saying anything.

Roll on Xmas.

Let's not go overboard - lost our way in the second half but overall I thought we just about deserved to edge the game.

Shame we lost Hart so early, I thought he started well. Rehman not good enough in the first half but did get better in the second - had to get one of those two headers on target though. Difficult night for Roberts, but apart from the comedy moment, not as bad as people are saying. I thought Leon was a bit quite, and when that happens we don't have too many who are good enough to make up for his inspiration. Jones worked hard, Butters very solid, Adam had one slip-up but otherwise OK.

But the truth is we missed the leadership of Chippy and Cullip very badly, not sure we would have made it that easy for them after half-time if they had been on the pitch.

That'll teach me to cut and paste F K as D's list to save time.

Roberts 5 - made a couple of howlers.
El Abd 6 - Solid defensively but offered little going forward.
Pethick 7 - played well.
Butters 8 - A rock.
Mayo 7 - excellent 2nd half.
Rehman 6 - tried hard but just ran around wherever the ball went
Yeates 6 - did well when he got the ball.
Hart 7 - missed him when he went off.
Jones 9 - blinding game, can't understand the substitution.
Mc Phee 6 - worked hard.
Knight 7 - ditto, couple of good runs.

Subs: Piercy for Hart - 6. This guy is not a wide player.
Lee - 6 - not much of an impact.

That's an interesting set of observations....Mayo 4 yet Rehman 6? I thought Mayo was one of the 2 most consistent players for us and didn't really do anything wrong, was busy tackling all night, read the game quite well and was head and shoulders above Lehman in all departments.

7 for Roberts? He was a clown in goal-he should try remembering that the ball gets kicked upfield within the pitch markings. And what was that windmill impersonation he was doing when Vale should have scored?

6 for Butters and 6 for Rehman? OK, Butters is not big on distribution (no pun intended) but he did at least win things and wanted to win tackles whereas Rehman didn't try to win one single tackle.

Won't go to individuals as such but well done Messers Yeats, Butters and McPhee.

Butters was excellent, Yeats was outstanding, McPhee looks better with every game he plays. Even Jonesy looked a decent player tonight.

Just wish the others would learn that Leon Knoight is only 5'4" tall !

Just thought I'd say that Adrian Littlejohn looked a half decent player for Vale last night. I wonder whether Horton would sell him and how much he'd want.

Roberts 7 - one big howler but he rescued it. Made 2 excellent second half saves and on the whole handled well in really bad conditions for a keeper. People are being way too harsh.
El Abd - 6
Butters - 7
Pethick - 6
Mayo - 6
Jones - 6
Rehman - 4 (never won a tackle - the weak link)
Yeates - 7
Hart - 7 (was playing really well - need more of his aggression from the rest)
McPhee - 7
Knight - 6

Lee - did he actually come on?????????
Piercy - 6

Thought we were well in control in first half. God knows what happened at half time. Badly missing a midfield tackler.

At work - probably
I thought Mayo had his best game for ages. Jonah had a good game as well - I'm not quite sure why he was taken off. Butters didn't put a foot wrong and although McPhee needs to be more selfish you couldn't fault him for effort. Cannot dissagree with anyone's assessment of Rehman - but why didn't anyone rate Piercy higher? - his passing was excellent he had a couple of good efforts - particularly that sublime chip and his crossing was top drawer. He may not put the same effort in as Harty - but his distribution is far better.
