until anyone actually offers any money, technically they are all worth nothing.

I suppose our most bankable asset will be Murray or Elphic, but as we are a club who is desparate for money and none of our so called big money players were tapped up, perhaps we as fans value them more than more discerning pundits.

Lynch has talent, but he can't get into a third division side. £1m!!??

he should be in a third division side, he would walk into, i'd say 90% of the teams in this division, and maybe 40-50% of the teams in the championship, at the young age of whatever he is..

and he is obviously going to develop into a very, very good player.

anything less than 1mill would be not worthwhile as we would then sit and watch as his value continues to rise and he establishes himself as a quality player, above our level

Wherever The Mood Takes Me
Murray - £300k
Lynch - £200k
Elphick - £350k
Cox - £200k
Forster - £50k
McCloud - 75k

These are the only players that anyone else would pay money for.

Anyone who thinks we would get money for the Keeper is deluded as twice we've tried to give him away and nobody wants him. The rest of the team are all free transfer material. Forster is obviously the best player we have, but at his age we wouldn't get much for him. I would say we wouldn't get anything but Dean Windass is still changing clubs for money (or was at Nicky's age)

The thing is, let's just say for a minute the Forest rumour is true, if he went there I am very confident that he'd be straight in the team and setting that division alight with some wonderful performances. I think he would gain a lot of recognition very quickly, and it could easily be a springboard to a premiership move within a year or so.

Which, as others have said, makes it all the more baffling that he can't get in our team.

His confidence looks shot to pieces for whatever reason

Why do you say that? Or, more importantly, WHEN do you think his confidence has looked shot to pieces?

All I remember is him finishing last season in magnificent form.

Not how I remember it at all. For sure, not seen much of him recently other than a couple of bits of games in pre-season and a couple of minutes v Bristol Rovers, but didn't look all that happy on the ball to me. Probably wrong tho eh

I completely agree with Badger. I really want Lynch to play, will take an injury from Hawkins/Mcleod for sure though.

Oh and btw, don't want to get u too excited badger but i was in the steam room with Michel today at falmer (without it sounding too gay). Great guy.

No no no!!

You've all got this wrong. Don't you realise other clubs read these posts?

Loft 1.5m
Mayo 950k
Hinsh 5m (Definitely worth the risk - look at his pedigree)
Gatting 500k

I wouldn't give 50p for Murray, Forster or Elphick. They really haven't fulfilled their promise.

That's better. If anyone wants to come in and offer this sort of money for my top 4 I think the club should seriously consider it although it would be difficult to let them go.

The last part of that is untrue - he has sold a player that wanted to stay

But wouldn't sign a new contract and gave no indication that he was going to until after he had been sold and DK's hand had been forced. I am not a great fan of DK, but on this occassion he took the right action IMHO.

What I find interesting about this thread is that it's OK for the fans to talk about players as if they were assets - sell them whenever we like to whoever we like if the price is right for us.

However, if a player decides that he wants to earn more money or improve his career prospects by moving to another club, more often than not he will be attacked for being disloyal and booed every time we see him playing for the oppo in future matches.

Not always the case - and some players handle it badly (Dean Hammond for example) and sometimes the club handle it badly too - but it's a pretty one eyed view we have on here sometimes. Remember that next time we slag a player off for week after week because he decided to move for no reason better than it suited him.
