Pietersen at the end of his Tether

Disagree.

He may be a brilliant individual talent, but as a team player, his work ethic sucks. That in itself, for me, drops him out of the 'brilliant cricketer' bracket.

As for being treated unfairly as captain, I don't recall anyone sticking a gun to his head and telling him to behave like a weapons-grade arsehole. With captaincy comes responsibility - and responsibility is not something he can cope with. Sure, he shouldn't have been appointed in the first place, and when he duly behaved like said arsehole, he was treated accordingly.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one! I think that he does what is required of him on the field in terms of teamwork; no more, no less. I'm also not convinced about this idea that he doesn't get on with anyone else in the team; in Strauss' first press conference in the Windies him, Freddie and Harmison were apparently sat at the back sniggering and exchanging words at various comments Strauss made.

As far as I'm aware with the captaincy row, he didn't leak the report, and only responded when directly questioned about it afterwards. Yes he said things (afterwards) that he probably shouldn't have, but as I said you have to expect that from him. I would agree that responsibility (and diplomacy) are things that don't sit with him, and he has definitely suffered as a result.

Exactly, and PMs vindicated by this latest primadonna posturing.

I don't know what you mean by Moores being vindicated. He was rubbish as England coach. The fact that Pietersen is a primadonna does not alter that fact. That is ultimately why he was fired.

Moores wasn't fired because he was rubbish. Whether he was rubbish or not is another debate.

He was fired because he and the captain couldn't get on with each other, and they couldn't get on with each other because the captain didn't understand the concept of team-work and responsibility. No-one else seemed to have a problem with Moores, and this stuff wouldn't have kicked off if Pietersen didn't have such a problem with himself and with others.

Up to this point, I agree with you.

I love how it is completely KPs fault that their relationship broke down. This is complete conjecture.

No-one else seemed to have a problem with Moores

You, or I, have no idea whether or not that is the case. Stop making things up to justify your argument.

this stuff wouldn't have kicked off if Pietersen didn't have such a problem with himself and with others.

Probably true. However I view that as entirely a failure of the ECB, who appointed both men. We all knew what Pietersen was like, people all over the country were saying that KP as captain would never work, including many respected commentators on the game. The ECB must have had more insight into this than anyone else. Why then did they press on and appoint him?

I just didn't like his attitude at Captain. Who wants the best coach for their country? Who wants actaully wants to win games? it's not the English cricket way

Pietersen is a larger than life character and what you don't do with headliner-grabber players like that is make them captain. The Boycotts, Bothams, Flintoffs and Pietersen all play great cricket but makes lousy captains.

England don't presently have someone like Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh or Graeme Smith who can provide that focus and steely determination unless Vaughan is reinstated.

Pietersen likes to speak his mind but for f***'s sake Strauss can you PLEASE have a word and gag him? We're in the middle of a one-day international series and our best player has announced he's f***ed.

So well done the England management - not! I'm sure the thousands of England fans who've forked out big dosh to support the side are happy to see the players counting down the days til they leave.

These comments are unacceptable because, as has already been stated, Pietersen is committed to the IPL and won't be homesick for that.
