'Global Britain is booming'.

A nonsense spouted by the terminally nonsensical.

(Also, any 3-word slogan that Johnson & cronies put out there, and is repeated ad nauseum by the gullible.)

When people mangle tenses to predict what they believe may have happened had circumstances had been different, in the mistaken belief that it makes them sound like they are a tv or radio master-pundit, rather than a knob.

"If that shot hadn't been deflected, the keeper is saving that."
"If he hadn't had a time penalty, Hamilton is winning that race."

etc etc.

I bloody would have won it too!

I hate the fairly recently coined phrase "out of an abundance of caution". Seems to be cropping up everywhere at the moment.

I am sure it's been mentioned before but I cannot be bothered to check 11 pages just in case.

Can I get?

There was a British girl at the next table at a local restaurant yesterday.

Can I get a coke?

Can I get an ashtray?

Yes, go and get them yourself!!
My wife has banned me from correcting them when the grandchildren come over :(

“One of the first…”

No. It’s either the first or it’s not.

It has been mentioned more than once, I believe. Getting upset over the meaning of get always seems odd to me, given the delexicalised nature of the word. Claiming it simply means fetch is just silly.

Get over it :)

"Oliver, we all love you very much. We'll always be here for you, no matter what. Happy second birthday."

When adults use their Facebook wall to talk saccharin-covered shite to their non-reading-age children, who also don't have access to Facebook.

Makes me do little bits of sick in my mouth.

Vile.

Oh, and 'guys'. **** off.

Agree with this. And I also feel similar (although not quite as harshly) about people who post messages to dead people.
