I visited the 9/11 memorial tonight. The scale of the two pools is very impressive. The waterfalls are very calming and peaceful amid the noise of downtown Manhattan. I was able to find the plaque with Robert Eaton’s name quite easily with the help of the 9/11 volunteers. His name is on plaque N46 by the North Pool. I got there about 6.30pm just as it’s starting to get dark in New York. Once it gets dark all the names are illuminated. I thought that it was even more impressive at night when all the flood lights are switched on. I was glad to be able to pay my respects to a fellow Albion fan – just an ordinary guy like the rest of us who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The Memorial is booked up about 2-3 months ahead at the moment so anyone wanting to visit from the UK should book well in advance. Eventually the plaza will be open to the public but that won’t be for about a year or so.
