Course, But if you dont intend to smash someone with your elbow you shouldnt be sent off?
That is slightly different, if you go up with your elbows up you are asking for trouble regardless, same as two footed tackles. Dangerous play is not the same.

Truth is - whether it was a penalty or not, whether it was a sending off or not - we were already 1-0 down!!

But at one nil with 11 players youve always got a chance of pulling something back no matter how badly your playing.

It was clearly a penalty - a stupid pointless lunge from Hammond.

Don't know about the sending-off because I wasn't looking. If Riley thought that Fraser trod on the keeper then it's red - no question.

What the referee thinks is obviously one of the relevant factors. The other necessary element has to be that Fraser actually trod on the keeper.

He didn't.

the ref even gave us the ball twice and we still couldnt take advantage

its got to the point now were being a brighton fan can be somewhat embarassing due to the fact that everytime a legitemate decision goes against us the ref is clearly being biased:shootself

Of course we didn't lose the game due to Riley but it doesn't disguise the fact he is a complete twat and one of the worst referee's around. How many times have you ever watched a game that he's refereed well?

i thought the first half, he tried to keep the game flowing, but after one or two city players started to fall over, and then get free kicks, they played on any little challenge and he is used to premiership players falling about all over the place, hense some of his bizzare decisions.....having said that, I cant rememebr their goalie having much to do all game and we played 15 minutes with 3 strikers!!!

I don't think the referee changed the result but he had a poor game.

From my seat the sending off looked harsh but it was a penalty.

To offer balance, the free kick for the back pass we won towards the end was dodgy as well.

Though the Revell 'hand ball' one was laughable to say the least.

Long ball is pumped up to Revell who has his arms by his side, City defender behind him actually has his hands between Revell's body and arms, ball hits defenders hands, Riley thinking they are Revell's gives free kick to City!
