Could someone, anyone point out the logic of taking Harty off and replacing him with Pethick. Harty wasn't having a great game but why the hell didn't Robinson come on then?

If Kuipers is off how much are we gonna get for him and will anything go on to team strengthening?

Can't believe I'm writing this but we have to write off this season now and start building for next. Complete clear out needed. NOW.

I think the reason was because Hart had just had a huge pop (quite rightly) at the linesman. He'd already been booked for that once in the first half, and was so frustrated with the way things were going was in danger of getting sent off.

Pethick used to be a right midfielder so I suppose was the most natural replacement, even if it not the most attacking.

Harty would probably not have been on the pitch for much longer if he had not been substituted particularly with today's I know the rules and I'll apply every one of them type ref. Pethick is atually a right sided midfielder who happens to be able to play in other positions as well.

If it had been 0.0 then that would be true. Pethick at best is a defensive midfielder. We needed goals - Robinson had to be given a go there and then.

I don't subscribe to the Pethick = crap line but he's basically a defender and was without doubt the wrong man to bring on with 20 odd minutes to go with us needig 2 goals.

I'd rather see Harty play than Pethick, but he has been playing shit all season. Even his legendary 'Total Commitment' ethic seems to be fading of late.

Robinson isn't a wide player and I'd question the value of playing an inexperienced player out of position

we were 3-1 down with 20 mins to go at the time of the substitution so logically it should have been Robinson to come on.

All Pethick did was HOOF it skywards to our midget up front.

I was amazed at the substitution.................:nono:

When Robinson did come on with 10 mins left he looked a real live-wire.

Hart was shit today and has been all season-the perfect reason for subbing him. He is not the OGH of old. Get it back Gary or be prepared to move on 'cos your performances are doing me fecking 'ead in!

It would have been better to leave the more attacking player on the pitch (even if he was not playing as well as we all know he can), but I agree with those who say the reason he did get substitute was his (justifiably) increasing annoyance with another crap ref which might have seen him get sent off.

Could it be that we were just settling for respectability at that stage as to win the game you need to sub defenders with attackers and possibly live with the consequences?

If Hart had got his marching orders would really miss him for a couple of games? The upside is he could have, at risk admittedley, stayed on and helped pull a goal or two back.

I like Pethick, but despair of him when he plays anywhere but at the back.

Taking Hart off was fair enough but we should have gone 4-3-3, putting Robinson up front with Knight and McPhee and switching Piercy to the right side of midfield. McGhee has a reputation of playing 4-4-2 whatever the circumstances, but Pethick for Hart was a Lloyd-esque piece of visionary thinking.

Yes the ref was pedantic but I can't believe people on here blame the ref (and the possibility of a second yellow) for Harts removal before Hart himself.

Harts attitude to opposing players and officials stinks I'm afraid and has down for a few seasons now. He has not matured as a player - plain and simple.

For a while whenever people have talked about his committed displays, they amount simply to games where he has picked up an unnecessary yellow card. That is not commitment, it is rank stupidity from someone who is a senior pro now.

He was subbed Saturday because he was flippin awful. Simple as. He is already suspended for Saturdays trip to County and I for one am bloody annoyed at him as County is a game where points are begging to be had with a real committed display.

Harty definitely looked like he was trying to get himself sent off. Although the ref was a bit whistle happy you couldn't blame him for the indiscipline that both sets of players showed when they conceded free kicks. I think there was only one booking for a foul. All the others were for dissent or kicking the ball away.

Doesn't this always happen when a bad run doesn't look like ending quickly. A full treatment room and loads of players on suspensions.

It's times like these when top pro's stand up to be counted, not duck the challenge.
