According to the BBC,the ref at the Everton v Birmingham game had to display an imaginary yellow card at a Birmingham player,having forgotten to pack them!Does it count?

So, the guy in charge of a top game doesn't check his kit and Everton can't find a couple of pieces of coloured card for him. USELESS.

How did they know what colour he was showing ? If it was an imaginery red, the player could get banned by the FA for not leaving the field of play promptly, if he thought it was a yellow.

I assume they mean he forgot to put them in his pocket, before he ran out.

All the other officials would have all had cards with them.
