Peter Taylor. What are your views now??

When he left at the end of the 2002 season, citing a lack of cash as the reason, a lot of people gave him serious stick and said he did nothing but inherit a good team.

He did however give DK the whole summer to sort out a new manager and I think most agree that the summer was wasted).

Is it time to reconsider his achievements

Mr Taylor must have been the most fortunate manager in football. His whole reputation is built on his under 21 career. Prior to this he was manager of Dover Athletic. I was then a Dover fan and the news was made official at the end of a friendly match with Boulogne.

To say this was amazing was an understatement. Dover were to be relegated from the Conference, but stayed up due to no ones ground being upto Conference standards.

Before being Dover's manager Mr Taylor was released on full pay by Southend. It was also reported at the time he was a second hand car salesman.

I have noticed that he has managed vitually every lower league team in the south, and no one seems to have approached him to come back down south.

His carrer lives of being loftly promoted by Glenn Hoddle, and nothing more.

At the end of the day, Taylor was out of contract and it was the end of the season, having led us to promotion (even if they were Adams players).

Good luck to him. Everything he said was true, although I felt bitter at the time.

I've never had a problem with PT. Yes he inherited a good squad from MA but they were not top at the time he came in. He was a good manager for us and at least the team knew how to defend. I'd settle for a dull 1-0 every week just fine right now. When he left he had his reasons and has pretty much been proved right, at least he did the decent thing and gave Dk time to find a new manager. It's not his fault that Dick then went on holiday for the entire summer.

Time has proved him right and the most honourable manager we have had. Dick Knight's biggest mistake was letting him go. I don't think it would have taken a bigger cash input into the playing side than he eventually gave Coppell to have kept him here.

He also turned down the Reading wanker, top man in my book.

You have to say that turning down Reading for Hull shows some loyalty (or at least, some sense).

The reason Taylor left is that he is scared of failure after what happened to him at Leicester.
He was frightened that if he failed with us in the first div he would get the same treatment.
Why hasn't he taken up any of the offers of management at bigger clubs? Again because he is scared of failure.
If he fails at Hull, so what, nobody would care, however if he failed at a bigger club in higher division his life would be hell again.
SO TAYLOR YOU BOTTLED IT !!!

PT was the difference between getting to the playoffs and winning the championship. He inherited a good side, didn't make changes quickly but watched for a few games, then made a few tweaks. And we got our second championship in two years. Shame he went, it left a bit of a sour taste

How was he proven right? How come Coppell did so well for us when he took over in Div 1? How many millions did he spend ?

Hull gave him bucket loads of money to spend,
He took Micky's team to where they would have got to whoever took over.
He left because he thought he might walk into an England job again.
Lets see how Hull survive when the official receivers come knocking at the door.

If Taylor stayed, we would not of gone down and we would still be in the First Div now, but as I said he bottled it, he was scared of failing.
Was Coppell given the money that Taylor wanted? I am sure he wasn't.
