Micky Adams takes the Albion up and fucks off to be assistant manager at a team about to get relegated and he's still God.
PT takes Hull up and maybe gets a job as THE MANAGER at a club that are not about to get relegated.
What's wrong with that then?

Have to agree with Icy Gull and others - I wasn't a big Taylor fan at all, but I don't think he behaved badly in leaving, and certainly there's a good parallel with Micky Adams when he went to be Assistant(!) Manager at Forest. If Taylor goes to Spurs, that's just what you'd expect an ambitious manager to do in the circumstances. Tough if you're a Hull fan and like him, but as we've learnt at the Albion over the years - there's little room for loyalty and sentiment in football. Except us fans, of course, but then who gives a f*** about the supporters?

Peter Taylor is ambitious and has always wanted the England job. Let's be clear about this. Any English manager would want to be England manager.
He left the Albion because he thought he had a chance of getting the under-21 job. Unfortunately, the FA, in their wisdom, decided that Platt was the man for the job (God help us).
So Taylor took the next good job he could get - and with their support and ambition Hull was a good job to take. But to be English manager he needs to do something at a Premiershite club - he knows this, so he will take a Premiershite job if it comes up. Why not Spurs?He isn't going to get one of the genuine top six teams, so a team with a good support and a fair bit of money that he could perhaps get a cup trophy with or a run in the UEFA cup with, seems like a good bet.

Taylor would be worth Spurs getting in the background coaching staff as he works well with young players, something spurs have in abundance. I would imagine however that Spurs will get a big name foreign manager in. If he gets sacked by Chelsea my money would be on Ranieri. He says he loves London and wants to stay in the Premiership. If he does, the expect Joe Cole to join him at White Hart Lane.

people always say how mickey left for the assistant managers job but i think we all knew as well as he obviously did that he was going to get the job at the end of the season. and even though they got relegated he then took control of a very good first division club which is obviously a good job.
whereas taylor left and went to hull....yes they have a stadium..yes they have a large fan base..yes the have money but they were in the 3rd division and its taken a few seasons to get them out.

True, he didn't fanny about all summer, and told Dick soon enough after the end of that season that he didn't fancy it - fair play to him at least for that. But I lost all respect for him because he didn't have the faith in the squad and in his own ability to rise to the challenge of Division One. We could have done it.
