You don't have to pay for parking. There are alternative means of transport.

Does the car park cost anything to run? Of course it does. I would rather parkers pay for that than it coming out of budgets elsewhere.

How does a car park cost money to run? At the supermarket I can park for up to two hours free, so why does it cost something if I am there for three hours?
I don't know how BG gets away with the hospital parking as both hospitals that I have been to recently have barriers which won't operate without a valid paid up card.

To stop people using their land as an all day car park.

Think about it... you are comparing a company (a supermarket) that makes millions of pounds in profit and in direct competition with others close by compared to a vital service, which does not run at a profit. It will cost money to construct, maintain and as you've already stated, you only have two hours. They won't work that out by magic. They'll have someone policing that. None have barriers.

I will admit I never pay to park on private land which includes railway stations and hospitals as I believe I am using or paying for their services so they should provide parking as per Tesco etc. Most penalties are unenforceable in law and are just a means of getting more money. I am currently fighting a company who put a ticket on my car in Currys Staples car park in Horsham as I left the car in there to continue shopping in Horsham, having been in Currys and not found what I wanted.

The reason I ask is from my user name it is obvious I am a supporter and a couple of of other contributors have passed comment as also being supporters

1) Why on earth should the railways provide you with free parking? I can understand the hospitals, but railway ffs, next you'll be demanding free bus fare to the railway.
2) Why should Currys provide you parking so you can shop elsewhere just because you're too tight and lazy to pay for parking.

1. Stations hardly affect me but I believe that the parking fee should be refunded on the train ticket purchased.

2. Is it my fault Currys couldnt supply the goods I wanted as out of stock in the store so I had to go elsewhere.

Yep but the likes of JAS and other scumbag parasite firms making a fast buck every time someone 'breaches' the terms they make up, don't pay a penny for the upkeep of the car park. The landowner/retailer usually gets nothing at all except the backlash of complaints.

As for Hospitals, even the Government has recently (partially) sussed the scam played out by Parking Eye, or UKPC and others picking off ill victims at £100 a pop and - in Parking Eye's case - suing them if they ignore their fake PCN. And the money all lines the pockets of the Private Parking Company (PPC) owners, so that's a good thing is it?

1) Why on earth should the railways provide you with free parking? I can understand the hospitals, but railway ffs, next you'll be demanding free bus fare to the railway.

Train Operators in fact do not make any money from the fake PCNs issued by the likes of MET or NCP, and the TOC still has to shell out the same amount to maintain the car parks because the scumbag firms don't pay towards that. They just mislead people by setting up a few signs and then send out fake PCNs pretending the keeper is liable when in railway car parks they cannot be - not even under the new law. So the money doesn't go to who you think it does, doesn't maintain the car park. That said, where it is a P&D car park I believe people should pay the fee to park if reasonable - just NOT to ever pay the silly amount the resident scammer demands for some jumped up contravention like the P&D ticket flipping over on the dashboard - ''£100 please''.

2) Why should Currys provide you parking so you can shop elsewhere just because you're too tight and lazy to pay for parking.
Currys do provide free parking - in Hove, Excel just pretend people owe them £100 and idiots pay it or rush to grab the early bird discount(!). It's not about being too lazy to pay, in a free car park. In the OP's case, JAS certainly have no case and in many car parks a person can certainly park and visit other local shops.

Well, I agree that it is wrong to be so heavy handed, but I don't see the problem in paying for parking at hoapitals. It is handled wrongly.

Maybe the system will change eventually and patients will be able to park for free, on proof of appointment, but I don't see why it should be free all the time it costs something and certainly deters people from taking the proverbial and parking up without any intention of using the services.

If you or anybody else, get 'a ticket' which are worthless, for staying longer do not pay it seek advice on appealing from pepipoo or MSE. The company issuing them make their money from those who just pay up because they look official.

Hospitals are putting in barriers that you pay on leaving to overcome this.

Personally - apart from the chronically sick, people getting chemo or similar on a regular basis, or visitors for people on death's door where they have no idea how long the vigil will be - I am not saying it should be free.

But the P&D fee is not the 'charge' under discussion.

http://cars.aol.co.uk/2014/07/29/parking-cowboys-target-cancer-wards/

That is typical of the scams fought by MSE and pepipoo every day - that's why I post there. And this sort of thing is the outcome of publicity:

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/11429649.New_hospital_parking_rules_announced_by_government/?ref=rss

Up until now the scam has never been reined in at all - and PPCs have made hundreds of thousands (per car park per year) from victims in Hospitals who may be 'guilty' of no more than their Blue Badge being slightly under the frosted glass of the windscreen edge. And until posters on MSE and pepipoo worked out the way to beat this scam at POPLA (which is not won by saying what happened by the way, not 'I had a Blue badge, look here's a copy' because that's mitigation and that would still lose) any appeals were never, ever accepted by the scammers.

People have been paying these pretend 'PCNs' for years when they never should have done.

Do you believe anything should be paid for?

Not medical life and death wise.

You've contributee to that and unless you are exceedingly wealthy, you owe a debt to others for your treatment.

My cochlear implant cost the NHS £36k. If I want to repay that, I'll have to either move out of education (or hit management level) or win the lotto and make a donation.

How much are you paying for parking?

But charges for parking at hospitals are a tax on the sick ( or those visiting the sick ). Wales and Scotland have got this one right. W&S hospitals also don't employ the parasites known as Private Parking Companies who lie and break the law, such as Parking Eye, G24, Excel, Capital 2 Coast ( our very own Brighton breed scum ) or UKCP - and before Bozza get's a twitchy back side - I have the evidence of these claims.

Railways and hospitals are under severe pressure to plug deficits. re

Have you paid back your life saving cancer treatment yet?

No that is an entitlement under the NHS but why should I or anybody else have to pay to park a car to visit a doctor or specialist and thus allow the CEO of the health authority to earn more than the PM
I don't get why you started this thread?

You seem pretty clued up and know what you want to do, and have access to the resources to find it all out anyway?
