Hello Techo People I have a major problem with my son's PC

Continuous loop of re-boot (not on-line)

I have put in the restore disc selected R the the prompt:

A:\>

Any ideas what I should type in it is X/P Time computer

Please help my distraught Championship Managerless son (and his parents) !

have you tried going into Safe Mode and fixing it that way without doing the restore?

never done a restore from A:\ in my LIFE so cant help you there, sorry.

I cannot get safe mode to work and the PC is not on line

Are you sure you don't need to adjust your bios to force machine to boot from cd.....then restart with the rescue disk in the cd drive.

How do I adjust the bios - not a great techie

normally its press 'delete' pretty soon after switching on......you'll have to be quick to notice which key it wants you to press.

where abouts in the world are you Beach Hut. ? This would be easier to fix with it in front of me!!

Minghawk's advice sounds worth a go rather than doing anything more drastic. Use another PC to print off the Symantec guidance on his quoted hyperlink - and download the removal tool to a floppy on that PC . You appear to have access to a A:\ prompt so you can run the tool from the floppy on your son's PC - but check out *all* the advice on the quoted link first.

Somehow it got it got safe mode and looks like it re-booted in a previous corrupt form.

I have no idea what the fix is a someone else is doing it (hopefully)
