Went to Primavera last year (Neil Young, Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, Spiritualized, My Bloody Valentine etc.) an it was amazing, but the line up this year is astonishingly good - annoyingly due to exams I can't go. It's the one time of year that being a student sucks (and typical of PV to be one of about 2 weekends in the year I couldn't do).

Thanks for all the interst guys - glad to see there's some afficianado's on the board (which I'd previously suspected to eb the case).
They were really good last night, it was only the 5th show of the tour (and prior to that their last show was in 1999) and they played a solid 2 hours, 90 minutes straight off the bat then two encores. They pulled a decent crowd too for a Monday night when ACDC were in town playing to 48,000.
Spiral Stairs guested with the support band for their last track too called (for the night) "Subiaco Shuffle" which he said was one of his. The support were called Gersey, from Melbourne, and apparently some of them play in Spiral Stairs' Aussie band, he lives here I think.
I thought there was going to be a riot near the end of the main set when Malkmus and Bob started taking the piss out of Bon Scott (saying he was only interested in the lyrics) which was a big call in Perth when ACDC were in town but, fair play as it was funny and only a few bogans took offence.
They started off with Silence Kit (cool) and yes, they did play Gold Sounds and it was might fine, but I don't think they did Serpentine as I'm not familiar with that one. They did do Range Life with the original lyrics though which was cool.
The vast majority of the set seemed to be from from Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and Wowee Zowee which suited me as those are the two albums I have and love, especially Wowee Zowee which was heavily raided throughout the set.
Malkmus was at his fidgety lolling around best and barely stood still all night. On the otherhand he didn't speak to the crowd until the encores when he reminisced about Wave Rock (an amazing geographical feature inland WA at a place called Hyden - google it, where he headlined a festival a year or so ago with the Jiks).
The whole band seemed to really enjoy themselves but I thought SM and Gary Young were going to come to blows when SM exited stage by walking stright over the top of Young's drum kit and knocking it over.
Gary wore his baggy brown underpants (trunks) and a brown pink floyd t-shirt throughout and really looks the most haggered of them all by far.

So basically, my recommendation is do yourselves a favour and go see them if you get an opportunity on this tour as it's definitely the last chance you'll ever get, and they are true legends and can still very much cut it....

I'll put up a couple of photos my mate took from his iphone as soon as I get them from him.

I may have a spare standing ticket to the Brixton show on May 12th - going to Primavera to see them in sunny Spain so may sell my London one.
