The Songs of The Jam were a class apart from anything else and proved what a superb songwriter and lyricist Weller was.

Why he decided to then treat his former best mates like shit, in the way he treated Foxton and Buckler is beyond me.

........Oh and The Style Council, were, are and will always be shit.

Agreed. The man's got one of the finest back catalogues in music but has such a precious (arf) view of it - why doesn't he ever play Jam stuff, apart from the other night? Some of his new stuff's not been bad but it's crap compared to his heyday. Head up arse a bit, I think. Still a genius though.

But he does now play Jam stuff, check out the Days of Speed album - live & mainly accoustic, doing his solo stuff, Jam stuff and Style Council.

Cheers, I stand corrected. Good news.

Agree with all of that....although when the Council were at their best they kick butt out of the tedious dross that is Paul Weller's solo stuff or The PW Movement.

The best way to experience Weller's finest moments is to watch The Jamm

The Jamm

Best tribute band on the planet, always make me feel 25 years younger. Only problem is that the guy who plays bass looks more like Bobby Ball than Bruce Foxton.

the man is a legend.

he is a nice man but some people can't hack people speaking their mind and voicing their opinions and that is what makes him a controversial figure in the eyes of many, not me though, he deserves his award and more in my opinion, his music (solo/jam/sc) has done more for me than any other artist EVER.

He certainly screwed them over big time, which is why I'm amazed he 'allowed' their images to be portrayed on the big screen behind him last night. Great songwriter in the Jam but a bit cold/ruthless in terms of his career etc.

Seen Bruce Foxton Quite alot and he always looks a miserable bloke - surely his not still bitter 22years on ?

Weller = legend
