Is this true? I always thought he was a decent player but would make my season to get 'Weller' on the back of my albion shirt. Paul Weller the mod frontman should be worshipped as a God.

Do you mean Paul Weller singing for the Albion?

I wish.

I heard a rumour that Weller was going to sign for us and also read elsewhere on here that someone else expected him to be one of our signings.

Not sure how much truth is in it but would be pretty good.

PS - Brooker is definitely coming back. He went on the team holiday to Spain and told my friend he was signing for the Albion.

Looking at his stats hes been a regular for Burnley for a few seasons in midfield now. Scored 1 or 2 but not prolific.

If he does sign we have to come up with some songs to the tune of ones by the jam. In my mind that is reason enough to sign him.

Im sure if we offer him enough 'pretty green' he will be quite happy to ignore the 'wild wood' behind the south stand and maybe he will up to 'the dreams of children'.

For the record...these days I rarely even remove my coat and get comfy...:dunce:

Paul Weller has joined the Burnley old-boys club at York City in preparation for the new season.

Weller, one of four players released from Turf Moor this summer, is still looking to get fixed up with a new contract elsewhere.

The long-serving midfielder has several options open to him - including Minstermen manager and former Clarets defender Chris Brass' open offer to sign on at Bootham Crescent.

Brass has already lured former Burnley midfielder Steve Davis to York in a playing and coaching capacity following their slide into the Nationwide Conference last season.

And while he weighs up the offers from several loftier clubs after severing ties with Burnley, Weller has been happy to accept Brass' initial invitation to keep his fitness levels topped up.

"Chris has been great and I've been happy to keep ticking over at York," Weller told thisislancashire.co.uk. "But I'm still not sure what is going to happen though."
