HI all, i'm trying to find out about parking on the uni site for match days and if so how much and how do i get a ticket /pass. normally a train traveller but need a close parking space as taking the old man to some games.:albion2:

Ask about using Car Park 5 on the Sussex University site, where there is a regular accessible minibus shuttle service for people who can't manage a long walk from their car to the stadium. It runs pre-match and post-match.

A mate of mine used to park in Brighton Uni car park and rip up any parking tickets he received, because being on private land they're unenforceable. Not sure whether the car park is manned on match-days though - presumably it is.

that's clever - what if we all did that? why shouldn't we have to pay to leave our cars on private land? of course the car parks are manned on match days. just pay like everyone else (the club has to pay)

University parking only seems to be available to those with season long passes - match by match parking is at the Bridge Street car park for £13 Pre-Match Brief: Albion v Hull City

Yes, there is a barrier at the main entrance and the stewards who man it turn away many dozens of cars who try to gain access, every matchday. The only way you can get through is if you have a university permit.

You can buy it at the Uni game by game (no need to have a season ticket). Costs £13. You ring the club (customer line, not ticket office from memory). 5 min walk to the stadium.

I didn't say I condone not paying - I agree that it would just be a chaotic free-for-all if everybody did that. Probably reasonable, enforceable penalties would work better than extortionate, unenforceable ones that such car parks have now. Anyhow, if it's manned, then avoiding payment is obviously out of the question.
