Pardew

I tend to go with Edna. If Pardew does walk, I suspect they may go for Parkinson who cut his managerial teeth with Colchester last season, doing a reasonable job. As most reading fans seem to cream themselves at the very mention of his name, I suspect it would be a popular choice. * Hint to John Polakcardealer * Losing Coppell to West Ham would be a disaster. Losing him to Reading..... :shootself :shootself

Parkinson would have the job if it was next year or the year after. He's not fully trained enough yet, and Kevin Dillon would take over in the meantime, should Pards go, and not take Dillon with him.

We're hoping not to think about managers anymore. The only scenario now is that Pardew could resign. His agent said that he "would have liked to have talked to them", which hopefully means its now in the past.

Hmm......

F. me, what's the panic about? SC's not the most attractive managerial prospect out there (he's bald for a start), he's of no consequence for WHUFC and if he ends up as their manager I'm a bleedin' Dutchman.

All it needs is for West Ham to state categorically that they will appoint Pardew if he resigns.

Pardew then gets offered the job and the negotiation will be all about how much Pardew has to compensate his former employer for the breach of contract. West Ham will then pay Pardew's costs.

As for who replaces him at Reading, I'm neither interested, nor bothered. SC is a man of integrity.

I'm more intrigued by the Barnsley snippet in that Independent story. A few weeks ago, the club was broke and was worried about survival, it seems they now want to bring in Steve Cotterill and pay off the current manager, who was a one-year rolling contract. Why would you sack someone who's taken you to second in the league? And why would you sack someone who's going to cost you a lot of dosh?

Wilts, why did Reading reject Sanchez previously? it could be that he didn't have the experience at the time, but he certainly does now. Or was there another reason?

Because despite being a Reading fan, he's a moaning little shite, and isn't exactly a charismatic leader.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cotterill come to us. And I'm sure if Pardew went, then he'd come to us rather than Barnsley!

We really shouldn't have any problem getting a quality manager in. That's not being arrogant (I hope), but the infrastructure of our club and its position in the league is second to none. We should be pretty sorted after this saga, regardless of whether Pardew goes or not. We all want him to stay, but if he goes there isn't a lot we can do about it... apart from waving £5 notes at him during the West Ham game next week. Could be a bit spicy.
