i am not a roman catholic.
however, i think it should be pointed out that the views they are putting forward are not, I don't believe, founded on pure malice. They are saying what they honestly believe would be the best way forward to make the world a better place. Now, I don't agree with them either, but don't think they intentionally trying to do harm, quite the opposite in fact.

If you have unprotected sex with the same person for the rest of your life and you were both virgins then that would be right.

The God wallah's make sense if you treat it in context. A more pertinent question would be how do you deal with the rampant prostitution and child sex in africa without anoying the PC lefty fools.

hmm....the stats I have seen shows the opposite. Channel 4 did a programme about a town in Texas, where the American religious right wing nutters are very powerful, preaching a message about abstinence and not giving any kind of sex education. It showed that teenagers were continuing to have sex - but unprotected sex - which meant that this particular town has one of the highest rates of sexually transmitted disease in the US.

Looney, I wouldn't doubt for one minute that abstinence would help cut teenage pregnancies and disease, it is simple maths, the fewer people doing it the less likely girls are to get pregnant and the less chance of diseases spreading.
