Along the lines of the Transformers thread, who collected these things?

I had an almost complete Mexico 86 collection, and my primary school banned them as there were so many playground fights over stickers.

I always ended up with dozens of duplicates of players nobody ever wanted like Terry Fenwick, and obscure Denmark reserve goalkeepers with a bad moustaches.

It was the ultimate form of cheating to send off to Panini for the last few missing Hugo Sanchez's, Emilio Butraguenos and Iraqi centre halves.

Would be fun to start collecting again, maybe next summers Euro Championships. We could meet up before games to do "swaps".

Redland - I have a complete 2002 World Cup one, and some swaps, if you need to complete your set.

I also have a much cherishes Football '80 set (complete), with BHAFC in there.

Brilliant, 1985-86 sticker collection. Sent off to finish it. I know that is sort of cheating but i'd spent loads of pocket money and even nicked stickers out of the paper shop at Fiveways! But one thing I still don't understand is that about a week after finishing it, the Mexico 1986 Collection came out and I threw the old one away!?! Why would I do that after spending 10 months filling it with stickers. With the Mexico 86 edition I was always getting Bryan Robson and had him slapped all over my A-Team lunchbox. The best thing about panini stickers was swapsy's in the play ground. "I'll give you Viv Anderson and Andy Grey for the Aberdeen Team Badge". Class.

I've got a completed 1970-71 season album, which was given to me as a birthday (ie the day of my birth!) present. It's got Celtic and Feyenoord in it aswell as the English teams, 'coz they contested the UEFA Cup Final or something.

Panini always said they printed equal numbers of all stickers - that can't be true. I had 17 Willie Millers and no Liverpool teams.

It was a definite fix by Panini. I had dozens of Kenny Sansom and Gary Bailey .:angry:

I have a feeling Steve Penney or Danny Wilson might have been featured in the NI team, as they put the albums together so far in advance, half the players in each time never made the final squad.

Iraq and Canada also made that 86 World Cup, which seems odd now. And how we laughed at the Korean defender, Cha Bum Kun.

Mexico 86 was the best one. But italia 90 was good aswell.

Which do you think was better?;

Hmm...Mexico or Italy? I dont remember Mexico but doubt it could compete with the unrivalled joy of finding a Omanbieke or Macanaki, Scilatchi or Gascoigne in your packet.

Did anyone used to 'feel' for hardness so you got a shiney? Or kiss it before you opened them for luck?
