The away attendance for a game like that is shocking.

It's not very far away and its a "big game" in the sense that you are playing a team that has come down from the Premiership and you are looking for promotion yourselves.

The fact that the game is on Sky shouldn't make a difference.

Its gives Reading fans a chance to show they are not "plastic" on live television by turning up in their thousands.

Unsurprisingly they didn't.

Oh come on Palace fans, have a sense of perspective. If it wasn't for us and Cardiff, you'd be playing at comfortably the most embarrassing, shittest ground in the Championship.

If you're going to crap on about Elm Park, you might as well drag up every shite old stadium- Boothferry Park, the Baseball Ground, Filbert Street, the Den, the Victoria Ground, Molineux pre redevelopment.

The difference is, all the others have bothered to drag their stadiums into the 20th century, and in several cases, the 21st. Unlike Palace.

The Albion kind of have an excuse. I'm not sure what Cardiff's is. But you have no excuse. One stand apart, Selhurst is a relic, and the most expensive relic in the Championship at that. At least the Albion and the sheep-worriers are trying to get away. What are you going to hide behind when even the last remaining clubs have sorted out new stadiums??

What and Palace dont? Ron Noades will not sell the freehold to Jordan so why would he redevelop the ground when he doesnt own it? Would you build a conservatory or extension on a house you pay rent for? No you wouldnt nobody in their right mind would so maybe it is you who needs to get some perspective eh?

No, its not, but as I've said before, it was more a response to the ticket pricing than the distance, kick-off time and
fact it was on sky.
We're customers, and Customers will vote with thier feet - This won't affect Palace much, as its only one visit a season, but as theres 26,000 seats there, I think Palace should be trying to fill them with fair pricing, rather than trying to fleece the fans that do decide to turn out.

Beach hut - I don't think so - As a student, as soon as ticket prices reach that point, I'm getting priced out of the market - Thats life though, and I have to deal with it...

Ali you are a young lad and £30 is a lot of wedge (its a fair whack for me and i'm nowhere near a young lad!) but its still a bit woeful that you couldnt muster a thousand fans which was a big game for Reading and considering the run you are on

Reading Fans = "Customers"

.. pretty much sums them up....

Not really if prices are high fans will vote with their feet.

You can't blame them if a night in a pub with a TV is the other option.

reading fans do piss me off a little bit. the big commotion made about pardew leaving when they were all saying "pard-who?" just made me feel sick. comparable to micky adams leaving us but we still regard him as a legend. also, in their last two visits to the withdean, reading have only brought along about 500 fans which is appalling.

Regardless of TV, I'd like to think if we were fourth in the table or whatever Palace are, we'd have managed more than 1500 at Reading (won't say Palace as obviously it'd be more).

AJLM: I don't know all the circumstances of Palace remaining at Selhurst, but the reasons for it still being a bit crap are not widely broadcast. Many clubs started improvements in the early 90s, hence I'm surprised Mr Noades never bothered himself, if only to increase the value of the site. Even you have to admit parts of the ground are pretty embarrassing, although it probably has more atmosphere at the right games than some of the new grounds. Surely Jordan can afford to buy out Noades, assuming he's the owner?

And I think Jordan might consider lowering prices a bit more for Championship games- or are we all paying Andy Johnson's wages?? I suppose we should be grateful we aren't paying £39, like last season. I expected a larger crowd partly as Palace are on a good run, never mind Reading.

Because I can :lolol: I was merely commenting that- yes I am aware of Withdean- Selhurst is a bit rubbish, especially when you were taking the piss out of Reading.

But I take your point. Do you see it being redeveloped in the near future or is Noades just having a laugh at Palace's expense?

I don't care what you think of my club - When you're in Falmer, you're going to rely on Plastic fans to fill your stadium and pay your players wages.
Don't forget that - You can look through rose tinted glasses, and pretend that your club has the best fans in the world, but with the best will in the world, 6,000 Passionate fans can only take you so far - you'll need the plastic fans money, like you did thier attendance in Cardiff, to take your club anywhere.

True - But you're still a plastic club

I wasnt taking the piss out of Reading i was merely pointing out the fact that a few years back they were playing in a cesspit of a ground until that nice Mr Madejski dug deep that is all. Ron Noades has stated that the Freehold of Selhurst Park is not for sale to Jordan at any price so judging by that i wouldnt put your life savings on the ground being developed in the near future!
