Too close for comfort
Good advert for Championship footie, I thought.

AJ didn't dive - Hahnemann (sp?) mashed him! At least he did from where I was standing.

Reading's response was pretty swift and devastating - great goal.

19,800 or so attendance - not bad considering Reading turn out was so poor and it was on the telly. Fewer than 1,200 Reading, I'd say. Noisy, though.

Obviously I haven't seen the challenge on Johnson.

I was merely resorting to popular stereotype :lolol:

I reckon that Johnson pushed the ball into the stand, and then made the most of his contact with Hahnemann - Fact is, he had NO chance of scoring as soon as he'd touched the ball, but he fooled the referee.
We did have that Handball decision go against us moments previously, so I think that may have influenced the decision - Either way, they put us under enough pressure and probably deerved to score.
I was pleased with our response.

I know a lot of Reading fans, including myself, decided not to pay the ridiculous price Simon Jordan was asking for this game, considering it was on TV, and that is why we didn't take that many to the game - If it had been a reasonable price, and wasn't on sky, we would have taken twice that, probably.

My pub got my money.

His sense of injustice at Reading's luck may be utterly misplaced (obviously he didn't see Kitson's *cough* penalty against us at the MS) but hey, anyone who wants to deprive that orange tinted, publicity seeking twat Jordan of revenue is ALRIGHT by me

Whilst obviously we understand your point, Jordan decided that Scum v Albion should be the most expensice game in the CCC this year and we DID still take twice that.

Notice Steve Coppell stating recently how much he'd like Reading and Palace to be promoted.

Nothing about how much he'd like another of his old clubs to stay up.

Once a Palace whore, always a Palace whore :lolol:

Yes, without doubt.

We were charged the same at Palace.

Sounds a bit like the Madjeski then

I know it was On Friday night and on Sky and yes it was £30 a ticket but to have less than 1,000 when your side are pissing the league and 28 odd games unbeaten is a joke IMO. Its not a million m iles away is it?

Fair enough - I'm not prepared to pay that though, and considering that somebody my age (19) would have paid £11 to sit in the South Stand at Reading for the corresponding fixture, I don't think theres much justification in criticising the Reading attendance tonight.
Its not really about the quality of the stand though, its about whether people are prepared to meet the financial demands of a chairman who seems interested in screwing away fans for as much as possible this season.

Fair point - would you pay £30 to see Reading at Oxford ?

I can understand that not everyone can afford £30, but we took 3,500 to the Madejski on a Tuesday night and your tickets were £25 if i remember rightly (correct me if i am mistaken i might be getting mixed up with another club)

Oh come on Palace fans, have a sense of perspective. If it wasn't for us and Cardiff, you'd be playing at comfortably the most embarrassing, shittest ground in the Championship.

If you're going to crap on about Elm Park, you might as well drag up every shite old stadium- Boothferry Park, the Baseball Ground, Filbert Street, the Den, the Victoria Ground, Molineux pre redevelopment.

The difference is, all the others have bothered to drag their stadiums into the 20th century, and in several cases, the 21st. Unlike Palace.

The Albion kind of have an excuse. I'm not sure what Cardiff's is. But you have no excuse. One stand apart, Selhurst is a relic, and the most expensive relic in the Championship at that. At least the Albion and the sheep-worriers are trying to get away. What are you going to hide behind when even the last remaining clubs have sorted out new stadiums??
