Poor guy, condolences to all who knew him. Quite right that football is irrelevant at times like this but how sad to think he didn't get to see how an unexpectedly good season panned out for the team he supported.

Truly shocking news, such an awful loss at such a young age. All the best to you and yours Lombardo, I hope at least some good can come out of this tragedy, with your good cause.

Well I was going to give a fiver to the guys at tonights game, but I'm sure they won't mind if I give it to your friends charity instead. Now go on, say you hope we're going to win, you know you want to......

I've passed on that he was a Palace supporter to someone organizing the REMF game tonight, hopefully he will get a special mention.

Really appreciate that!

Sat in the library now with a friend of mine who knew him, attended Sheffield Uni together but was a couple of years above myself.

Shocking story, almost puts me off ever applying to do the marathon myself.

All the best.

Dear All,
The young 23 year old man who died in the Brighton marathon was a close friend of my family and a palace fan.
Just wanted to say how impressed and moved everyone has been by the hundreds of Brighton residents and Marathon runners that have donated to his Justgiving page.
Says a lot of good things about your home.
Plus its gonna make it a little more bearable to deal with your Ascendancy at the moment as opposed to our decline.
Of course im praying that come tomorrow we get back to Pre Amex Palace, and you cock up big time.
Ive attached a link to his page, so if anyone can give even a couple of pounds, it is going to a good cause.
Sam Harper Brighouse is fundraising for Arms Around The Child (UK) (formerly KCA UK)

Anyway, enough of this reasonable stuff, and we can now get back to willy waving, Homophopic/Pikey Home burning abuse ect ect!!1

RIP Sam. Condolences to the family and friends.

I ran on Sunday, and Mrs B was standing where it happened, albeit on the other side of the road. She saw it all unfold, and he has been in her thoughts ever since.

Very sad story. As a fellow runner it really makes you think.

All the best,

GB

When I finished on Sunday, I was feeling great, absolutely over the moon that it was all done. The crowds were out, the sun was shining, and it seemed like a perfect day. Then I heard about Sam. Obviously I didn't know him, but to hear that somebody didn't make it home, particularly someone a few years younger than me, was such a sad end to the day.

Sam: wherever you're running right now, may your feet be blister-free and your times always a personal best. I hope your family can take some miniscule crumb of comfort in knowing that your efforts have done a huge amount of good for others.

I didn't realise he was a Palace fan, RIP. Will donate some money when I get home. At least something positive is coming out of this tragic death.

RIP Sam.

A total tragedy, but as above I hope the family can gain some solace from the fact that he was doing something so positive for charity. It's great to see how much his justgiving page has taken off.
