Chanderpaul was doing my nut yesterday by constantly padding up to Giles outside off stump until finally being given out offering no shot.

I was thinking that the umpires should get a little stricter with their policy towards padding up. I rate Taufel as a quality umpire, probably the best in the wrold (and he loves giving Lara out) but I just wish he could have said something to Chanderpaul to stop him padding up to every ball. In the end it was okay because Giles finally caught him out with a good bit of bowling.

My question is should umpires be able to tell batsmen to stop padding up or should the rule be left alone to encourage better bowling??

There's nowt wrong with the existing law - if a batsmen isn't playing a shot he should be given out, simple as. Putting a bat behind a pad is not playing a shot.

Agree on Taufel and Lara btw :D

That was my conclusion. It's just annoying when someone kicks away a whole over.

On a side note, did anyone see Flintoff hit a 6 which his dad nearly caught on Friday, well funny. What was funnier was when Harmison came him and after smacking two fours in a row he hit the biggest 6 I ever saw at Edgbaston, beat Freddies best effort by a good few rows.
