One trick pony whose been found out now his pace seems to have gone, or just a bad patch?

He was so anonymous last night that I would question him starting the next game if I didn't remember how lethal he's been in the past.

Does Sven stick with him or pick Vassel ahead of him?

Vassell's good to bring on with 20mins to go as he's quick, the tired defenders at that point will be scared.
Owen needs a goal to lift his confidence thats all, he's still worthy of a starting place as he can just get a goal from nothing...or at least he used to be able too!

I say give him at least one more half. He should be better against the Swiss. If not - Vassell looked dangerous and deserves a chance

yes i am. nearly a goal every two games. links well with rooney. against iceland his off the ball movement was fantastic. he will KILL SWITZERLAND

he has the best understanding with gerrard.

old head on young shoulders.

I didn't see the Iceland game and I really hope you're right but with all Owen's hamstring problems I just question if he is, mentally, the player he used to be.

i do understand

hes no longer the unpredictable player that he was. rooney is that now! he is far more a team player now instead of running at defences ALL THE TIME

We have 3 world-class players - Beckham, Gerrard and Owen. All had a bit of a mare against France but they will recover.

Christ all mighty, Owen and Scholes getting a slating on this site. Next somebody will be saying that Beattie should have travelled.

Don't see a single post slating him except perhaps my opening sentence.

owen remains the only proven world class striker we have (i know rooney is class, but he's only been around ten minutes) and he simply has to play.

as mentioned earlier in this thread, he just needs service. against the french he was pretty anonymous because we could hardly get hold of the ball, let alone provide him with through balls, crosses etc.

he'll score against switzerland.
