According to a link from that article, Coppell is one of Burnley's top targets to replace Coyle.

It's not news at all. Burnley appointed a caretaker manager on Tuesday and stated that Coyle had left the club. Why would they do that if there was a chance that he'd still be there come Saturday?
Does any one really care about this? Two nothing clubs in my opinion.

They could do far worse. I've lost a lot of respect for Coyle in this saga, and maintain the hope that Bolton will go down.

Yep, Coyle has no respect from me now. Do a good job at Burnley and the offers will come in once the resources have proved to be insufficient. To leave them halfway through the season like this is crazy and very dishonest. Really hope Bolton go down, and if Burnley get Coppell I would give them a better chance of staying up than they would have had under Coyle.

not surprised what with him being ex-bolton, but i think he could be making a slight error in his career planning

bolton are NOTHING
i think burnley would be DELIGHTED with just staying up, and are seeing this season as a 'bonus' whereas for some obscure reason, bolton fans seem to expect success

I can see why he went - he spent a lot of his playing career at Bolton & had a good rapport with the fans. Bolton also have a better ground & more resources. For us, it would be like being manager of a club like Walsall and being offered the Albion job. It would be a no-brainer for me

Some mates of mine went to the Bolton v Lincoln cup tie last weekend and reckoned

People keep saying this but he was only at Bolton for 2 years and played less than 60 times for them. I really don't understand where this great love for Bolton he seems to have comes from. Stupid move for him in my opinion, particularly having turned down Celtic over the summer.
Just about to type that. He has spent longer at Burnley than he did at Bolton. Money is obviously the reason for his move but at the same time surely he could have got a better job? As you have said he was offered Celtic job.
Seems a strange one to me.
