If Madejski lived in Brighton would we still think he's a twat?

Not even him living in Brighton would stop him being a twat-unless of course, he ploughed his dosh into The Albion.

So-Once a twat-always a twat (unless he funds Falmer) I'm afraid.

A dodgy haired one with no morals.

He has proven one thing though-Coppout isn't very high in the loyalty league is he so for that I guess we should begrudgingly thank him? Better for Coppout to leave at this stage of the season rather than during a promotion run-in.

I think that's my point, which most Reading fans seem to have missed. He made his money in the Thames valley and has therefore put it into a 'local' club. His philanthropy has made Reading 'big' not history.
He has only known relative success and therefore will still assist with funding the club until the tide turns and the fans disappear, which even Reading fans agree is already happening.
His ego is being massaged by people who have not known real football adversity and when Reading starts to slip and he say no more cash he will be villified by the fans, become disenchanted and pick up his ball and walk. And Reading will be just another Wimbledon.
He has no history with Reading that matters and therefore probably would have funded Falmer if he lived in Sussex but is it better to be given something and not appreciate it, or fight for it and then value it forever.

Oh come on. The club runs itself nowadays without Mr Madejski's help. If the club looks to be going downwards any more, Madejski whacks some cash in if needed, but hardly ever.

Wimbledon and the like were funded solely by chairman ploughing in their cash. Madejski has already ploughed in the cash for the infrastructure to build a club that runs itself. So this year (2002/03 season) we make a profit from the £15m turnover. Hotel and conferencing facilities, and the close links with the HQs of some of the 60% of FTSE 100 firms who have their building in and around Reading.

You and I know that Reading are not going downwards. Just focus on BHA going upwards rather than our club going downwards.

If Madejski leaves today, we're still fine.

P.S. Reading is a very historic place, just not a historic club. Not sure which one you mean...

I agree with you Wilts.

Our focus should now be BHAFC and not getting into another slagfest about Madjetski and his millions.

As for him not having any history in Reading-I can think of a couple of hundred million historical links Madejski may now have. If I made that kind of money in somewhere like Cardiff even, I think I could develop an affection for the place.

I think Reading FC HAVE been very fortunate to get all of that funding from Mad and I'm as envious as hell simply because the club is very unlikely to be going downwards for the foreseeable future. Even if he does move to Bermuda and says "f*** Reading, the place is horrible and I'm outta here. See ya-thanks for helping me become rich."

I don't like the man or the way in which we've had our manager poached by him but Coppout was never going to stay anyway. Better squeeze some cash out of Mad now rather than wait until the end of season when he'd have fcuked off anyway and we'd be looking at the best part of fcuk all for him.

Coppout is going to Reading. We've got some dosh for him (hopefully) and both clubs can now get back to normal. Our paths will cross again soon but right now we have to focus on one thing and one thing only. Falmer for BHAFC.

I really, really hope that Dick Knight has written a hands off clause regarding any of our players

Strange fact... Reading has the highest number of Bermudans outside Bermuda itself. And Barbados too. They come from fantastic-looking places, yet choose to come to the Royal County instead!

That's the sort of meaningless facts we try to cling onto to make people think that its a nice place ;-)
