I worry, I would rather we had to play the teams around us as we always play better against the better sides. We struggle big time especially at home against the lesser teams. 3 points at home against Yeovil, Charlton and Blackpool is by no means a given. based upon our time at the Amex, we will drop points in some of them games.

I can make you feel better here.

This idea that we are crap against lesser teams was true in 2013, but isn't any more. The last time we failed to put away a lesser team was Charlton on Boxing Day, unless you count a draw against 12th placed Bournemouth on 1st January. Since then, we've beaten Port Vale, Birmingham, Doncaster and Millwall. Admittedly they were all 1-0 victories except Vale, but we have won every single one of them, and won deservedly. And in that time, we've only lost to Watford (we were pony, away), Hull (Premier league club, away) and Wigan (unlucky, but they were in form anyway)

So really, I don't think anyone needs to worry about lesser teams any more.

Conversely, very few teams have out-classed us at home, but Barnsley were comfortably the better side at the Amex this season, in a true Championship style head scratcher of a game.

Quite!

And that's the key, more than other results. If we win our 5 home games, we probably only need one more win from the 5 away games as long as we don't lose to Forest, so I'm not looking at other team's fixtures unless it is squeaky bum time with 3 or 4 matches to play.

Barnsley have generally been terrible but have the odd inspired game, especially at home (beat Forest the other day). However, they have lost Jim O'Brien for the season and Perkins (the blond midfielder) has moved on, and they have a thin squad. They are currently without Martin Crainie and Peter Ramage, experienced defenders. I reckon that is one we should win.

me too. One a game at a time. At least it is in our hands now (should we win out!) and we are no longer reliant on other teams losing. You only have to look at last night's results to see the folly of predicting what our opponents will do. I'll just look forward to saturday for now and hope we can reverse our woeful performance at Portman Road with a satisfying win.

I still think, on the evidence of the 90 minutes against us alone, Barnsley are the best team I've seen this season. Obviously they're usually shit, but that night they were fantastic. Words can't describe how annoying it is that they chose that night for their ONE away win so far.

Barnsley were ok, but it was more how poor we were that night. Forest were the best team I've seen and I thought QPR were one of the best teams I'd seen in terms of passing and we beat them.

I think we'll just miss out this year......

That's how I saw it. I don't think Barnsley played particularly well. McCourt had that mazy run, which was more luck than judgement. I don't imagine he's scored a goal like that before or since. Looking at the match stats, we had 15 shots, 6 on target, to their 8 & 3. We managed to mess it up and Barnsley took their chances, but they certainly weren't great.

We were poor, but I haven't seen many teams attack us like Barnsley did. There were times in that game when we simply couldn't stop them carving through the very centre of our team, just 20 or so yards from goal. I haven't seen us in as much of a FLUSTER against anyone else.
.

They did attack us, but not from the outset.

They turned up expecting to get dicked, and then after 20 minutes when we had thrown NOTHING at them, they got bored of waiting to withstand a barrage that never came, and grew and grew in confidence.

Entirely self inflicted.

Every time look down the league I think this, they were like Brazil that night. No one else I have seen this year (home and away) has looked this good, I think Wigan have been the side that had that promotion look about them, defended well and took chances away from home, with solid capable players. I also include us in this, we have not been consistent or had a fit body of players available.
