Our Guide to Betting on Brighton & Hove Albion in 2024

In 1997, Brighton & Hove Albion lost their stadium. The team was left homeless for over a decade. In that time, they played in Gillingham, and a rather awful sports stadium in the middle of Brighton, and we mean awful. There were a few promotions, and subsequent relegations, but Brighton was just happy that they were still a team. Eventually, after much campaigning of the government, Brighton received planning permission for a stadium. The stadium marked a change of fortunes for Brighton, and a few years later, they ended up in the Premier League. Seemingly against the odds, in 2023, they managed to qualify for their first ever Europa League (and, hopefully, the first of many).

Now has never been a better time to bet on Brighton & Hove Albion, especially at places like IrishLuck. So, let’s give you a guide on how to bet on them and join in with the rest of Sussex in cheering on the Seagulls!

Choose the Right Place to Gamble

It is essential that you choose the right place to gamble for Brighton & Hove Albion. Since they play in the Premier League, most online bookmakers will offer gambling. However, you’ll want to choose somewhere that:

  • Is reputable.
  • Has great betting odds.
  • Has a fantastic welcome bonus.
  • Has a good mobile gambling experience.
  • Has lots of options for betting.
  • Has lots of withdrawal and deposit options.
If you’re gambling in Ireland, then we highly recommend that you use sites like IrishLuck which are designed to help players locate the top betting sites as well as casinos available in the region.

Play the Side Bets

Most of the time, choosing the winner of a Premier League match-up is easy, on paper at least. You have the odd upset, and you may struggle when two top teams are going against one another, but choosing the winner is normally quite easy. This means that the odds aren’t that great. Now, don’t get us wrong, it’ll be a rather safe bet to make. It just won’t make you much money.

When you are betting on Brighton & Hove Albion, we suggest that you focus on the side bets. This means betting on first goal scorer, number of corners, number of cards, etc. You’ll win more money (but you may end up losing too).

As with all bets, if you want to stand a decent chance of winning your side bets when betting on the Seagulls, then do some research beforehand. In the 2023/2024 season, Brighton rotated their team a lot (you can thank injuries for that), so you’ll need to research who is likely to be playing that week, what their performance was the previous week, etc.

Don’t Aim too Highly

Brighton performs well, but they’re not going to end up at the top of the league. Not any time soon, at least. This means that if you’re planning on betting on Brighton, then aim for the middle ground. Aiming for them to finish in 6th to 10th place is probably the safest bet. You can bump this up in a few years, but always expect Brighton’s performance in 2024 to leave them somewhere around those positions.

Expect Brighton to Have Lots of Shots on Target

For the most part, Brighton know how to shoot. They don’t score much, but they’ll be firing on all cylinders. So, if you check out the side bets for Brighton & Hove Albion, then expect a lot of shots on goal. Brighton are one of the best chance creators in the league. The only problem is the actual finishing part.

Brighton’s Defence Can Be a Bit Leaky

This is something that we saw happen in the 2023/2024 season. Because Brighton tends to favour their attack, the defence hasn’t had a huge amount of investment. As a result, Brighton’s defence is a bit leaky. They rarely have a clean sheet, and there have often been times that Brighton have shipped 4-5 goals. Not great! So, expect Brighton to have goals scored against them. At least until their defensive situation changes.

Expect Brighton to Win Against the Big Teams, and Lose Against the Smaller Ones

Brighton always seems to perform much better against the bigger teams than the smaller ones. This is due to their tactics. Smaller teams are much more likely to sit back and hope for the best, and Brighton’s tactics (slow build up, catching on the break, etc.) will often make it tricky for Brighton to get through them. All of Brighton’s big losses this season have been against teams that you absolutely would not have expected to beat Brighton.

Final Thoughts

Brighton is, hands-down, one of the best football teams to bet on in 2024. If you’re going to gamble on a team, then why not against one that provides exciting football on a relatively meagre budget? We recommend that you use top gambling platforms, like IrishLuck, to make your bets. This way, you can benefit from the best odds and the best welcome bonuses.
