Great question on the subject of corners and free kicks, the codes look very complicated and we drag our tall defemders up to the box and over hit the dead ball, six times today. if we can't manage a dead ball situation we have little chance in open play, I'm starting to believe there is very little strategy in what we do. take a leaf from the NFL, where are the special teams for such situations, oh and keep Lua Lua as far away from set pieces as possible! The wasted opportunities from dead balls today was unforgivable! Whats going on with the coaching staff????????

The same happened at Huddersfield . If they know its going long surely its not too hard for one player to hang really deep and attack the ball from the opposite wide flank when it comes over instead of trying to back peddle to get a glancing header to go out for a goal kick

Instead of holding up hands and fingers the players should be using Navajo codewords instead.

Having seen FIRST HAND the SKILLS of those street kids in Kenya where on what is loosely described as a "pitch" they whipped in perfect crosses time after time (and under pressure) makes me LESS forgiving of our overpaid wankers who cant even deliver a decent corner or freekick.

Unfortunately with Lopez not playing, the quality of ball isn't good enough from corners or free kicks.

We defend them as well as anyone else in the league so we must be practising.

Anyone got any stats for this (corners/ chances/ goals) IDFK's scored, DFK's scored?

You're right-that Lopez is rubbish isn't he?:ffsparr:

On the evidence of this season, yes he is...A shadow of the player of the last ten games of last season. How many goals have come from Lopez corners or free kicks this season??? One free kick against Palace however sweet it was does not put him up there as a set piece specialist.

As identified by my 79 year old father three games ago and he s not even on the coaching staff, its a bit obvious isn't it.

They're probably not used to corners beating the first defender tbh

Got it, Gully's Girls form a pyramid, one of them rolls off the pinnacle, performs a back-flip them expertly plants the ball between the penalty spot and six yard box with pace and top-spin. Sorted.
