I should know the answers to these questions but I don't. Do we have specialist defence and set piece coaches and if not, should we?

Nick Stanley is our set piece coach.

I don't think we have a specific defensive coach under RDZ though I may be wrong.

It's difficult to find the stats but I don't think we've actually conceded a huge amount from set pieces (although they're a big percentage of the goals we have conceded)?

Always room for improvement but unsure if there's a coaching failure tbh. Brentford are just really good at set pieces.

Think having three ‘athletic coaches’ is certainly making a difference under RDZ.

We look fitter with much better endurance without looking likely to fall into the Bielsa scenario of playing incessant murderball and dropping like flies towards the back end of the season.

Not sure he’s quite cutting it yet
He's been in that role since 2019 and at the club as an analyst since 2012 (with the first team since 2015). I'd imagine he's had a lot of success with different styles and managers from set plays over that time.

Hmmm, from an attacking point of view we've been piss poor at set pieces for at least this period of time.

Not saying this bloke is to blame for Dunky and Webby repeatedly heading it up and over or Pascal carefully placing it in the quadrant after 2 small bouncing then playing it knee height to the defender at the front post week in, week out. But we've been crap.

We've shipped a decent number from corners as well, I would bet well above average as a percentage of goals conceeded. Though I think fewer players marking zonally under RDZ is helping.

Was more of a play on his surname but agree always room for improvement

To be a stat nerd. The numbers imply that he's probably doing a really good job of setting up the set pieces, but the players aren't finishing them (looking at you Dunky!) To create enough goal scoring opportunities to score 8 goals from corners but only deliver 2 is poor and needs to improve.

We're not that bad defensively from them either. We've got a lower or similar xGA from corners than most of the teams around us.
