We have a lot to sort out this transfer window.

6 new players
+1 to replace COG if he goes
+1 to replace Dunk if sold
+1 to replace Stockdale if he's moved on.

That's before we even consider replacing Holla or Greer, and replacing Ince if he's poached.

Best crack on with it, albion.

The same forest who spunk all over a striker's face and throw cash at them every season but still manage to get no higher than 10th?
Yes, but next season they won't handicap themselves by having Pearce in charge for half of it.

Did well before him though, when they were still spunking all over the shop. Just because clubs are making moves now, doesn't mean we're somewhat lagging behind. Neither does it really indicate purpose. Wolves signing what's his face from Pompey..in league 2 is hardly showing purpose when people on here moan we've looked at league 1 players, does it?

But we are only interested when the Loan window opens/shuts...transfers are just not us...

Are we? Same season you signed up if I remember likely, we virtually had no loanees. Last season was the first time in god knows how long where we relied on loans.

A lot of revisionism from members, or is it lack of knowing what the squad was pre-Amex glory days..

Jesus wept, will the negativity ever stop? It's mid May!

Couldn't agree more. I might begin to be worried if we get to the position where there is nothing (or too little) in place or in sight with the beginning of pre-season coming close.

The thought also occurs that we might be keeping our cards close to our chest so that other people can't hi-jack deals. That may not be overly possible in this day and age, though.

In terms of transfers and arrangements, the summer break is not that long and preparations should be started at least a month before the season finishes.

As far as I can see we haven't 'missed out' on anyone yet have we ?

Waddington perhaps but he wasn't one for the first 11, nothing to suggest we were in for Jed Wallace or Jamie Ward.

Seems the players we've been linked with are still playing, such as the Finnish keeper and Enrich in Spain. If we are looking abroad for signings not much will happen for a couple of weeks until all the European leagues have finished playing.

We will almost certainly sell Dunk and Ince for pence probably.
Then do the usual as we have done for the last four seasons,
1. Be linked with every available player on the planet.
2. The targets we actually do have will be " snapped up " by other clubs
with Chairman who have far more ambition than ours, as Mark Waddington was yesterday by Stoke.
3. Once all the other clubs have successfully signed all the good and half decent players because we have pissed about and waited to long because we think we will get them for bargain prices, then, we
will move onto the not quite so good " out of contractors " ( freebies )who no other Championship side
wants because they're League 2 at best players.
4. Once all the above fiasco has finished we will then rifle through the dross , has beens and worse selection of " late 30's players that were shite about 3 years ago already, in the bargain buckets, that everyone else has been through several times already and sign players akin to Colunga, Ryan Harley, Paddy McCourt, Aaron Hughes etc etc etc and pay stupid money for them.
5. These will, of course be signed about a week before the season starts.
6. Then the loans come in and play over our full time time players every week, not ever allowing a team to gel properly.
7. Possibility of manager no 6 in 4 years ???

Have I missed anything ?

Is it possible to keep the names of players we are after a secret, so we don't end up doing all the leg work for other teams.

Wait til the transfer window closes and judge the squad then.

In fairness, that was said a lot last year while there was pre-season bedwetting going on and the bedwetters proved to be right on the money.

That said, it is way to early for panic. It's only May.
