I really need to pull my finger out and claim this back...
I don't want to pay commission to some firm if it's easy to do independently. I hate financial stuff like this, but seem to remember a thread last year where paople talked about this, and about how easy it is to claim.
So, finance experts, how do I claim it back?

We claimed and got over £600 paid back only this week. Contact your lender, tell them you want to claim, they will then do pretty much all the work for you.

In theory the FSA have said they should be contacting you. Is it after 2004 ? I claimed on behalf of the ex wife and got her £ 5000 back including interest. Don't forget interest is subject to tax. It's incredible but 80% of these claims are being done through claims companies who take around 30%. If £ 6 billion is being paid back, thats
£ 144 000 000 going to these companies. PM me if you need any help in doing this.

Just contact the Financial Ombudsman Service, they will do it all for you and its completely free, they take NO commision. I have just completed my claim and in 2 months I have received just over £10,000

Thanks for the replies, really helpful. It was 2006, so I'm hopeful of getting something worthwhile out of this.
