Thanks for all the advice, looks like I'll go for a Desire S.

You won't regret it, had mine for a couple of months, and its brilliant. Went to Amsterdam last weekend and simply turned off the data roaming, so I didn't incur any additional costs.

Battery life is crap, but there are a few things you can do to improve that. I did read tho that the battery benefits from a 16 hour charge before you switch on for the first time, but its a new toy so you will want to play with it ASAP.

Battery life improves after a few charges, that's the way with lithium batteries. Plus you hammer the phone when you first get it, trying out stuff, downloading everything, etc.

When you get used to it, it's time to Root n Rom!
