Stimson: We must rock Brighton
By Luke Cawdell

Brighton v Gillingham

GILLINGHAM travel to near-neighbours Brighton today for the first of three straight away games.

The Gills follow up their visit to the Withdean Stadium with long trips to Hartlepool on Saturday and Doncaster the following midweek.

Brighton are still hanging on to faint hopes of a play-off place and manager Mark Stimson knows the trip will be a testing one for his side.

Stimson said: "They’ve got a decent home record and like all teams in this division they have one or two players who catch your eye and we’ve got to be ready for them.

"It’s a local game and it’s one for the supporters. There’ll be a lot of banter that goes with it and the boys will be made aware of that. I can promise the fans I'll have them bang at it come 7:45 on Tuesday evening, the players understand games don't come much bigger than this for us.

"We’ve got to go and take the defensive performances from our last two games and that little more belief in the attacking third, and maybe we can come away with something. We want to build on this two-game spell. We know we are as good as Brighton if not better and now is the time to prove we are in a false position.

"We’ve played two games at home against two sides who have been a little defensive and we’ve done well. Maybe if we play a team at home, they may come at us more and open up gaps for our lightening quick attacking players to exploit."

Stimson will wait on news of Simon King’s (ankle) condition before selecting his team. Also on the mend are Mark Bentley (Achilles) and Nicky Southall (head).

Lukes Verdict - The Gills will be desperate to put one over their local rivals and I back Stimmo's men to continue their imporving performances and mean defensive streak nicking a fine 1-0 smash and grab victor in the process.

Wilkins. Hang this on the dressing room door and make the players read it before they go out onto the pitch.

And I certainly wouldn't want to be grabbed in the process - listening to commentaries a lot of players seem to get injured there and boy does it hurt...

little do they realise that when playing at home we don't actually attack. Instead we sit back and soak up the pressure from the away team with just the odd counter, so I reckon it's for us to nick it 1-0

Stimson: We must rock Brighton

Brighton v The Travellers

GILLINGHAM will climb aboard the old Caravan tonight to near-neighbours Brighton for the first of three straight away peg and lucky heather selling opportunities.

The Gyppos plan to follow up their visit to the Withdean Stadium with a few weeks dumping hardcore and dirty nappies at their camp on Hollingbury Golf Course. Long trips to Hartlepool and Doncaster, to see if there are any driveways that need tarmaccing or a bit of dodgy roofing that needs doing, follow soon after.

Brighton are still hanging on to faint hopes of not having their cars nicked or their bins rifled through when The Pikeys arrive tonight.Pikey's Manager Mark "Romany" Stimson knows the trip will be a testing one for his side.

Stimson said: "They’ve got a decent amount of stuff worth pinching in Brighton, and we have our eyes on some excellent fields nearby that we can desecrate with our trash".

"It’s a local event and our little band of Gypsy rogues look forward to it every year. There will be a lot of violin playing and dancing round a bonfire in our end and I have asked that all of our number wear colourful headscarves and big gold earrings at the Withdean to show our Romany roots. The players understand that Football games are not about winning, they're more about keeping the home fans distracted while we do their motors".

"We’ve got to go and take the defensive performances from our last two robbing sprees and that little more belief in our ability to bare knuckle box, and maybe we can come away with some DVD players and Plasma Tellies. We want to build on our reputation as the nastiest little bunch in the third. We know we are not as good as Brighton at Football, but we can get in through an open window and have your gear away faster than anyone in this division.

Stimson will wait on news of Simon King’s (ankle) condition before selecting his team. Also on the mend are Mark Bentley (Achilles) and Nicky Southall (head).

Lukes Verdict - The Pikeys will be desperate to put one over their local rivals and I back Stimmo's men to continue their imporving performances and mean defensive streak nicking a fine 1-0 smash and grab victor in the process. However as a realist I recognise that I am talking out of my arse.

Now thats more like it.

f***ing pikeys, they never learn do they. And no, I'm not referring to the fact that their fridges don't work outside unless you plug them in. I am referring to the twat running the show who last season TWICE suggested "no disrespect but we need to be beating teams like Brighton" or similar toss, shortly after we did the DOUBLE over them.
