open terracing - an unfair advantage?

Aside from not having any feeling in my feet or head at the
end of yesterday, I can't help feel that open terracing
is exploited by clubs to dump away fans in so that firstly,
they are less likely to travel if the weather is bad and secondly
to reduce the risk of any atmosphere being generated (as was the case yesterday, even though we tried).

And those cheeky swindon b***ards accuse us of not
singing, snug in their wind-protected stand.

I know that clubs are short of money but I think this is used
as an excuse a lot of the time while they develop their home
end stands.

I know we are no angels
ourselves - but at least we have the
Sth. Stand uncovered and the times I've been p***ed on
there.....so you can't accuse us of the same.

The evidence:

- Gillingham
- Brentford
- Orient
- Swindon

On the reverse side, look at Peterborough, Lincoln etc where
we always take a large number and play well.

Um... I think you actually answered your own question there.

I don't think we would be too happy if we were stuck in the cold open air week in week out while the away fans enjoyed protection from the elements and the chance to create a decent atmosphere.

The ground was a relic of a bygone age when away supporters used to get slung out on an open terrace with the worst view possible - remember the East terrace at the Goldstone?

We should remember how lucky we are when we go to places like Reading and Notts County, comfort and atmospher seems to be a privelage for away fans, not a right.

Just imagine what Falmer will be like!!! It'll be fantastic!!

I was in the stand yesterday, and the atmosphere there was superb. Amazing what a difference a roof makes!!! Could those of you on the terrace hear us?

On the radio the reason for no Roof at Swindons away end is because a local resident protested that a roof would block sunlight for his cabbages in the adjacent alotment

And you thought we had problems getting Falmer :lolol:
