Blimey, these are going to be a rare and much saught-after....errrr...THING.

Fantastic effort people. I'm so glad the financial risks you took in getting it printed have been more than recouperated (despite my best efforts at losing a tenner of it on Saturday).

Great read. Well done to everyone involved. Apologies for completely forgetting that I'd volunteered to write something, but on reflection the contents were so good you probably didn't need anything more.

One minor observation/criticism - as it is promoting FFA then you need to get across to all audiences so it would probably have been a good idea to edit out the little bit of swearing in Krispies article.

In this instance it wouldn't have changed the context of the article but might put off some fans with kids who don't want them reading swear words.

That's a fair point. And perhaps I can go someway to answering it.

I was the original publisher of Krispies' article in Brighton Rockz and, as sub-editor of this particular fanzine, I had the option of changing the words before delivering the mag to the printer. As with the original article, I chose not to on the grounds that, firstly - and most importantly - the words were not used gratuitously but in emphasism.

Secondly, they were appearing in a fanzine, which, while not intended to be "top shelf" material was still not a publication that was specifically targetted at a "family audience". It's important to point out that whilst the profits from 'One F in Falmer' will go to the FFA Campaign, the fanzine itself was most definitely NOT produced by the FFA Campaign team. Nor was it intended to be seen as representing the views of the FFA Team or the club.

This isn't to say that a tide of swearing is appropriate or makes for pleasant reading. However, the use of "robust" language shouldn't be totally proscribed either because an overly sanitised fanzine would make a very dull read.

Finally, and this is only my personal opinion, I tend to take the view that that any young person capable of reading and understanding the word in question is unlikely to be unfamiliar with it. Regardless of whether this familiarity has yet to be exercised in parental hearing!

The seaside.
There is - for better or worse - shedloads left in the club shop. I bought one today just before they closed at 5.30 and there was a pile of at least 50 left, probably more like 70. Largely, I suspect, as they have hardly put them in the best place - bottom shelf of the books bit, hidden up against a load of hardbacks. Even the staff struggled to find them. So if anyone wants a copy, hit the club shop. PS It is ace, great articles and fantastic quality - full-colour, shiny paper, etc. I really need to find out where it was printed!

Am I the only person who thought that it was awful? I thought that it was dull and boring. I wouldn't buy another one if there was to be one published. It is always very difficult to follow a good original. The original Gulls Eye was witty, informative with a little inside info and pleasant to read since then ALL of the fanzines have failed to reach the same heights. I believe that they have outlived their day people expect more.

I hope that sopme body doen't comeback with 'if you could do better send in an article' I am not and do not profess to be a writer of newspaper/fanzine articles. I am just a boring old fan who supports the club and Yes I do support a move to Falmer although I am sceptical as to whether it will ever happen.

Ahh... the original Gulls Eye. Those were the days.

Witty and informative stuff like this:-

"I attended the meeting of BISA on Monday evening in the hope that I would hear something constructive about the present situation but sadly left the meeting very disillusioned.

The 'meeting' and I use the term very loosely was chaired by a self confessed left winger who told Steve Gritt and Jeff Wood that the gathering was indicative of the true supporters of Brighton and the mood of those supporters. Wrong!! There were approximately 300 militant supporters present who were being led into making a decision that would lead to causing as much disruption as possible to all forms of authority ...

... Surely the aim must be to first and foremost ensure Brighton's survival and secondly to bring about changes so that the present situation cannot happen again in the future. Sadly I heard nothing that indicated any moves towards either but plenty towards bringing in Dick Knight.

Having listened to what was said by Dick Knight and the two representatives from McAlpines I am rather sceptical as to whether or not they are the Messiahs that their adoring fans present on Monday believe..."

Familiar words, BensGrandad?

I'm sorry. You were wrong then. And you're wrong now.

I expect there are plently of contributors to the latest fanzine who will be relieved to hear that they don't have your backing.

Myself and Lord B (don't tell roz) had to fish the money out of Trotser's pockets ourselves. And they were very tight - it took a while. Somehow she ended up with about £300 (at least that's what it looked like). What else was there an 'F' in Trotser?

Yeah, not sure how that happend! I kept running out of fanzines and had to keep grabbing more. When i went to empty my pockets in Roz's special bag, I had more notes than the bank of England!!!

A couple of people actually gave me a tenner and said just give me £5 back!! We have very generous fans!

"One F in Falmer" was never trying to follow Gulls Eye. It was a one-off production to inform fans of what has been going on in the campaign to get that "YES" decision from Prescott, with some articles about relating to Falmer mixed in. Not everyone has access to the internet and North Stand Chat, so not everyone will have been aware of the enormous efforts and fantastic successes which occurred on National Falmer Day, for example.

A lot of time, effort and money went into producing that fanzine. I'm sorry you found it "dull and boring", thats your opinion and you're entitled to it. Thankfully you seem to be in the minority. The whole thing has been very worthwhile, and has further raised the profile of the Falmer For All campaign, which can only be a good thing.

FFS Turkey, don't offload all of your copies yet. I am still waiting for the club to get back to me about those half a dozen copies...

BTW I am not surprised about the sales (or lack of) in the club shop. The layout of the shop is APPALLING. They have no idea how to lay out a commercial premises. And one person is responsible - but, thankfully, I honestly don't know what his name is. So I won't slag him off.

Maybe someone could call in at the shop on Friday and take some copies off of them to sell at Hillsborough?
I'm sure there are some fans who haven't been asked for their quid.

A couple of points on the above....

I bought it because it was in support of Falmer. I couldn't really have cared what the quality of the writing, spelling, typesetting or paper was. In fact, I've just had a glance over the articles and not really read any of them. I can't believe I'm the only one to have done this either.

If you paid £600 for 1000 copies then I think you paid far too much. Surely the object of the exercise was to get as much into the FFA pot as possible. You could have used lower quality paper inside a glossy cover (just like GE did). A fanzine printed on low-grade paper with lots of mistakes is somehow more endearing than a glossy 'magazine style' production anyway.

I'll support any other edition that you decide to produce - and I'm equally certain that most of the other buyers will too. Perhaps a print run of 1000 is about right - as it'll sell out almost immediately. Alternatively go for a slightly higher initial print run.

Don't get me wrong - I think you all did brilliantly in putting this together. However, I think that if we (and I include the audience alongside the publication team) do this again we should be a little more cost-conscious.
