the phrase "Islamic terrorists" HAS been used. It is completely unhelpful

But there is no doubt they WERE Islamic Terrorists so I couldn't give a f*** if it's 'unhelpful'. I have no problem with the media reporting facts, there's no room for spin here.

The main concern with the people I talk to in London is the same issue that affects Isreal every day, and that is to say " how do we ever stop it?" how do you stop someone who gloryfies Death and feels that Death is the supreme sacrifice to Allah.

My grandma, who unfortunately died last month lived the last 20 years of her life in Dewsbury in West Yorkshire. She was a first generation Welsh woman, born on the Rhondda. She lived in sheltered accomadation and when she moved in, the street in which she lived was predominently white, and everyone lived in peace and harmony. Then came teh Balkans wars, and under instruction from the british Government, Bosnian Muslims were shipped out of the war zone and moved to various places around the country. Dewsbury/Ravensthorpe was one of those places. Within the space of six months, Grandma said that the atmosphere had totally changed with local ethnic Asians attempting to "control" the new arrivals. White families caught in the middle of this and living in the street as well as her housing came under attack and within a few years, all the white families had moved out leaving just the old people in the flats.

Grandma in the last few years of her life lived not quite as a prisoner in her home, but has to put up with constant abuse , things put through the letterbox etc etc....the same things as Asian people have to put up with in other parts of the country.

My point in all of this, is that the seeds of hatred were sown at that time. My Pakistani mate's views are that Britain is responsible for supporting the Indian Government in Kashmir, the British and US Government supported the Mujahaddin in Afghanistan when they were fighting the Russians, however when it suited them they turned away. They also believe that Britian is anti-muslim. These mates are not hard line fundamentalists, they are like you and I. They believe whites hate them and blame them for everything bad in the world.

My grandmother was as far from being a racist that you could get, yet she could see what was coming.

So why use "Islamic Terrorists" over "Northern Terrorists". Terrorists are terrorists irrespective of what they believe in or where they are from, giving a label to their form of criminality IS spin if you ask me. You wouldn't describe a bank robber as being a "Christian fundamentalist bank robber" after all.

I suppose you would if the robbed the bank in the name of Jesus?

Hamas believe thay are doing the work of Allah to rid Palestine of Israelis, therefore they are doing it in the name of Allah.

Interesting that no-one has actually said why they did it. Presumably the web site posting was a fake as no-one knows ?

You have to make a stand against this kind of thing and Shingle is perfectly welcome to bounce as many as my posts on this subject as possible - as it underlines my stand.

What I'd be interested in hearing from him is his strategy of isolating the fundamentalist bombers from the communities they hide in. Or whether he thinks there should be restrictions now on immigration (which is, of course, making innocent people guilty for the actions of criminals). That for me would fall under the category of mmm...interesting ??? [/B][/QUOTE]

Should there be restrictions on immigration as a result of the London bombings, in my opinion no, as the two are not directly linked as the bombers were all British born. But on the general subject of immigration my opinion is that asylum seekers should always be welcome, likewise 'economic migrants' who will work and pay taxes. Criminals posing as asylum seekers (and its probably a tiny minority) should not be allowed in.

On the subject of fundamentalist bombers being isolated within their communities, well I think that they already are, imagine committing a crime of this magnitude and not even your family or friends suspecting anything. The solution must come from the muslim community, and I'm pleased to see that leaders of muslim communities around the country have already branded the bombers as outcasts.
