Quite impressed, although I think our midfield does look a tad lightweight.

Jakey looked good...

Defence worried me though...I agree that Danny looked a bit slow on the turn, Butters was solid enough as you would expect but again slow, Harding will get better allthough he is playing against far better players this year....Virgo was awful though!

I look at it this way......The premiershite employs overpaid foreignors, so therefore all the good Britrish players play in the Championship....only problem is we cannot afford any of em.

Cullip spent the entire game covering for that big lump next to him who couldn't seem to win a single header. I thought he was inspired, but occasionally out of position.

That is very harsh on Butters. I think both Cullip and Butters did fine on Saturday as did Kuipers and the problems came down the flanks. I would stick with Virgo and Harding as they are both young and need to learn from their mistakes.

With a full strength side we will compete in this division. I am more optimistic about staying up now than before Saturday having seen all our new signings. Think the midfield, especially early on, was much stronger than last season and without two key players in Carpenter and Rodger. The defence made mistakes but they will learn and with Knight back up front we will create chances. However, I still think we need a target man as Molango is not the ideal build for that role.

Got to give them a few games, but the worry is Butters will be found out, again, at this level. Harding did worry me a tad, but as Mayo has had more comebacks than Sinatra, I guess there is an option there.

Cullip was top notch in that game and did the work of two men

Harding was covering the player that jarret should have had he had to keep dropping his man to cover the spare man

once the roles are sorted in midfield i think that the defence will be strong they need to sort this in a couple of games

So a chance for us to take a few points of you then?!? Seeing as you've kept the talented players, surely the fans must be getting the hump if Cardiff can't mount a credible promotion challenge, do you think Lawrence has it in him? Did you make any decent summer signings?

You taking points of us goes without saying......

Summer signings? Just the two - Welsh international defender Robert Page from Sheffield United and keeper Tony Warner from Millwall. Hardly names to set the pulse racing.

It's our midfield that needs strengthening. There is an on-going transfer saga involving WBA captain Sean Gregan. By all accounts he fancies coming here and we've made a bid of £250,000, but Leeds have jumped the queue with a bid of £300,000, Forest have made their interest known and WBA are now said to be looking for £400,000. That one has been dragging on for weeks.

I don't think you will see Cardiff make a serious promotion challenge until work on the new ground is well underway. All of the necessary agreements and contracts have apparently been signed, but the project is not due to actually get started for a few months yet.

There doesn't seem to be much point in making a push for the Premiership while we are still playing at Jurassic Park. I think most City fans accept that. The club will probably concentrate on consolidating its position in the Championship while the new stadium is being built.
