P.S. Horsham District council are closing the local leisure centre and running track at the end of next year. Glad to see our positive investment into sport in this country carries on. They are going to sell the land to build another retail park.

This country will come to regret in a big way that we ever agreed to host the Olymics. Mark my words.

9.3 billion budget. What was the justification again? To inspire young people to do sport? Nice they're cutting school sports funding then.

How many pockets have been lined??

Lots and lots. And some athletes have had their funding cut too. It makes you wonder what this Olympics is all about. If they can find the funding for this opening ceremony why can't they find the funding for some of the athletes.

Every time these major sporting events come around the costs always go up....the countries never seem to care.

Do the predicted costs take into account sponsorship and money generated through ticket sales/merchandise etc?

At the moment it stands at about £140 a head (assuming we use the 1,000 million).

As an aside, there is a scheme setup at the moment and it is trying to inspire people to get involved in sport/organising sport - There is a Sussex Division - Incompatible Browser | Facebook or Active Sussex - Sport Makers
